No matter what weapons or skills you are using in your Envoy build, choosing certain active abilities and passives is necessary to optimize Yatzli’s potential. Moreover, making optimal choices for Yatzli is less stressful than creating Envoy’s build. This is because companions do not earn attribute points, nor can you alter their armor or weapons. Therefore, the strength of your Yatzli build will depend entirely upon how you assign her skill points.

In Avowed, all companions have three active abilities to choose from, along with one possible passive. When a companion first joins, they will only have their first ability automatically unlocked.

When you first arrive in Thirdborn you’ll find her on the southeastern side talking to the city leader Temerti. Start a conversation and you’ll learn about the archmage Ryngrim.

Ryngrim has created a magical barrier around the ruins both you and the Steel Garrote are looking for. Yatzli is excited to hear about the archmage’s presence and wants to speak to you about traveling with you.

The conversation will conclude, with Yatzli telling you to meet her at the tavern. Head west, to the back of the Fleet Master’s Perch. Yatzli will be waiting outside and after this second conversation, she will officially join your group.

Ideally, when playing with Yatzli you will want to cast her Arduous Delay of Motion shortly after the start of combat. You will want to target priority enemies such as strong bosses, or healers. Once this slowing effect has been triggered, use her Essence Explosion to blast the boss. Finally, you can then use Minoletta’s Missile Battery to deal less powerful hits to the smaller enemies.

At this point, you’ll have to wait for the cooldowns on her abilities to expire. This will take at least 40 seconds, so focus on yourself and your other ally’s abilities in the meantime.

Yatzli Companion With Envoy Fighter Class

The Fighter is a great class to pair with Yatzli, especially if you are using a tanky, defensive build that you can use to help protect your allies. As you rush into battle, have Yatzli cast her Arduous Delay of Motion to slow down the highest-priority enemy. This should always be the healer/priest/cleric NPC because even if you bum-rush the boss, those healers can negate all of your hard work in moments.
