When Will the Free Story Update in Dune Awakening Release?
Chapter 2 of Dune Awakening will be released on September 10, 2025. You won’t need to wait too long to experience the next part of the game’s main story. It is a free content update, which means you won’t have to spend any extra money to access this content if you own the base game. However, a paid DLC named the Lost Harvest will also release on the same day. If you want to play that, you’ll need to purchase it separately for $12.99.

What’s New in the Story Update in Dune Awakening?
The free story update, or Chapter 2, will pick up right where the base game’s mainline story ended. While unraveling the mysteries of Arrakis, you will meet several new characters and explore brand-new locations. You will also encounter several familiar NPCs while completing the content of Chapter 2.
Besides the main story, the free update will add several other side activities in the game. For instance, it will add new contracts that you can pursue. You can also find or craft a ton of new items, including weapons, armor, and more.
The free update will also introduce a system that allows you to re-customize your existing characters. There are plenty of reasons to take advantage of this system because the update will introduce several new hairstyle options in the character creator. You can try out these styles on your existing character without having to start over with a fresh one.
To celebrate the upcoming story content and DLC releases, Dune Awakening is free-to-play on Steam until August 24. You can play up to 10 hours for free, and any progress you make during that time will remain available if you purchase the game in the future.
