Tesla CEO Elon Musk called Twitch streamer Hasan “HasanAbi” Piker a fraud for promoting Ubisoft’s game Assassin’s Creed: Shadows. Hasan, who does political commentary on Twitch, took up a sponsorship from Ubisoft to promote the game on his Twitch stream, and it upset many internet users. The game is facing criticism from some internet users for having an African-origin protagonist in a Japanese game.

Former video game executive Mark “Grummz” Edward Kern called out HasanAbi on X for promoting the game despite being an “anti-capitalist.” Musk responded to Grummz’s tweet and called Hasan a “fraud” and “sell-out.” According to Musk, Hasan is promoting a “terrible” game for money.

Despite the controversies, Assassin’s Creed: Shadows has reportedly sold over two million copies since its release. The game is on track to become the franchise’s most successful game yet.

Elon Musk and Grummz Call Out HasanAbi Over Assassin’s Creed: Shadows Sponsorship

After HasanAbi revealed that he would be livestreaming Assassin’s Creed: Shadows on X, Grummz shared his tweet and said:

“You can tell a lot about Ubisoft with how much money they are throwing at terrorist-platforming streamers.”

Elon Musk responded to the tweet saying:

“Hasan is a fraud.”

The billionaire replied again and said in a separate tweet:

“Sell-out” would be more accurate. Objectively, he is promoting a terrible game just for the money.”

Grummz agreed with Elon Musk and said:

“Anti-Capitalist” my b*tt. Hasan promos are not cheap.”

Why Did Grummz Call Hasan a “Ter*orist-Platforming Streamer?”

HasanAbi interviewed a 19-year-old Yemeni resident named Rashid in 2024. Rashid popularly goes by “Houthi Pirate” on social media and is allegedly a Houthi under the Ibb Governate in Yemen. The Houthis are armed rebels who want to combat the Yemeni government.

Hasan’s interview with Rashid led to criticism, with many internet users and content creators calling him out for allegedly platforming ter*orists.

Streamer John “Tectone” recently called out Twitch in a YouTube video for allowing Hasan to stream on the platform. He said:

“I think more people should get banned for what they did because I think Twitch is kind of a cesspool right now, and I’m happy at least they dropped the hammer on moderating me. I hope other streamers who platform terrorists, will, get some type of comeuppance in the future. Because I think Twitch is heading in a really sh*tty direction. I think it’s becoming a joke of a platform, which is a shame.”

Hasan claimed that he did not know Rashid was a known ter*orist after facing criticism. Readers should note that the United States government did see the Houthis as a terror group until a month after HasanAbi’s interview.
