Ghost of Yotei: How To Get and Drink Sake

In this article, we’ll take a look at how you can get and drink Sake in Ghost of Yotei and what effects it has on Atsu.

Sake in Ghost of Yotei is a special consumable item that is extremely valuable since it restores up to 2 spirits per jar. Besides its primary usage, the item is also a crafting material for many of the other throwables and consumables available to Atsu. So, you’ll need to have a collection of them with you at all times, both for use during battle and for crafting.

In the following guide, we’ll explore how you can get Sake in the game and what specific purpose it serves.

How To Get Sake in Ghost of Yotei

You can get Sake in two ways.

  • You can find Sake jars while exploring campsites, inns, and other buildings in the game.
  • You can buy Sake from merchants.

At enemy camps and compounds, you might also find empty Sake jars lying around. An interesting thing to note here is that if you’re wearing the Snake Skin Armor, some of these empty jars will start having Sake in them when you pick them up. That’s one of the perks you get for wearing that specific armor.

You might need to drink Sake during an intense fight where you’ve exhausted all of the spirits. In such a scenario, simply hold the down button on the D-pad to consume a jar and restore some spirit. After you consume the Sake, Atsu will drop the empty jar at her feet. You can still pick up this jar and throw it toward an enemy to break their attack. Or, you could use it to distract guards during stealth sequences.

What Happens When You Drink Sake

As we said, drinking a Sake jar restores some of your spirits. However, it also adds a blurriness to Atsu’s vision. So, you might have some difficulty seeing incoming enemy attacks. When you drink another jar of Sake soon after, the blurriness increases further, making combat even trickier. If you drink three Sakes back-to-back, Atsu will vomit during the combat sequence, leaving her totally defenseless.

How Else Can You Use Sake in Ghost of Yotei?

Apart from direct consumption, you can also choose to preserve any Sake you have. When resting at campsites, Atsu can begin crafting a variety of items, including quickdraw weapon ammo and other consumables. Some of these recipes call for Sake as an ingredient.

For instance, to craft a Smoke Bomb, you’ll require 1x Sake, apart from other ingredients, such as Black Powder, Plants, and Metals.
