Talents in Genshin Impact work the same as skills do. Each character has unique talents that affect their gameplay differently. However, all characters have three Combat Talents and three Passive Talents. In this guide, players can learn exactly how to level up talents in Genshin Impact.
Leveling Passive Talents
As mentioned earlier, each character has three Passive Talents in Genshin Impact. The first one, called the Passive Utility Talent, is unlocked by default at level 1. The second and third ones are unlocked after reaching the first and fourth Ascension Phases, respectively.
These talents provide passive buffs to characters, as the name suggests. In addition, players cannot upgrade Passive Talents.
Leveling Combat Talents
Players can level up Combat Talents up to a certain level on each Ascension Phase using Talent Level-Up Books. Additionally, the rank that Combat Talents can be leveled up to, alongside the Ascension Phase and the Adventure Rank required is mentioned below.
Also, do keep in mind that Combat Talent Levels cannot exceed ten, except for Constellation Talents.

Required Materials
Players need Talent Books to level up Combat Talents, which can be farmed in the zones mentioned below on specific days. These books also have three rarity levels, with higher Talents requiring rarer Talent Books. Each character requires specific books to level Talents, which is mentioned in the Talents tab. Alongside these books, players also have to obtain items from weekly boss fights as well as overworld enemies to level Combat Talents.
Although these books have their specific days of farming, it is worth mentioning that on Sunday, all the Talent Level-Up Books become available. Therefore, if you do not wish to keep a track of which book becomes available on what day, you can simply farm them on Sunday.

However, the exact name and number of books required will differ between each character and is mentioned on the Talents menu in the game. Also, it is recommended to read the description of each Talent before levelling it, as it can be crucial for your build.
