Traveling through the vast biomes and world of Minecraft can be hectic on foot. Using various methods like horse riding and Elytra, you can make it much more convenient and hassle-free.
While finding an Elytra can take a huge amount of grinding, riding a horse can be done quite early. Here is everything you need to know about how to ride a horse in Minecraft and what items you will need to tame it.
Riding a Horse in Minecraft
Before you can ride a horse in Minecraft, follow these steps. Firstly, tame the horse by feeding it an apple and petting it; right-click on the horse without equipping anything.
Keep feeding and touching the horse until you see numerous hearts appear on its head. Once it is done, the horse is now eligible to be ridden. However, you will need some extraneous items before you can control its movements.
You will need a saddle, which, unfortunately, can’t be crafted at a crafting table. Since the original horse saddle was removed, the only way to find it is to forage through fortresses. The locations with the highest chances of dropping a saddle from treasure chests are as follows:
- Dungeon
- Ancient City
- Bastion Remnant
- Desert Temple
- End City
- Jungle Temple
- Nethre Fortress
Once you have obtained a saddle from a treasure chest in the following places, you can now ride your horse. While riding, open your inventory, which additionally shows the horse’s equipment. In the inventory, you can put the saddle in the uppermost box. This will prompt you to ride a horse, and now, you can easily control its direction.
In the horse’s equipment, you can also craft horse armor that will keep it safe from the dangers of Minecraft’s world. Additionally, you can craft a leash on the crafting table to lead your horse where you go.
