Everything you need to know about Maximilian the Impenetrable in The First Berserker Khazan, including how to unlock it, perks, and more.
The Phantoms are easily one of the most intriguing aspects of The First Berserker Khazan’s progression system. Not only do the Phantoms play a major role in the game’s main story as parts of the Blade Phantom entity, but they also serve a very special purpose in gameplay. As you progress through the main story, you will be able to unlock new Phantoms. The first Phantom, Keshta the Unyielding, is unlocked automatically after completing the first optional quest. However, to unlock the other Phantoms in the game, you need to collect special Relics, which can be quite tricky to find. One such late-game Phantom is Maximilian the Impenetrable, who provides a passive Guard Stamina buff.

Where To Find the Relic for Maximilian the Impenetrable in The First Berserker Khazan?
To unlock Maximilian the Impenetrable, you need to obtain the Ghost Shield. Before that, in order to get Maximilian to show up in the list of Phantoms in The First Berserker Khazan, you need to have completed the Veiled Knives main story mission and defeat Maluca. Once you have completed all the prerequisites, you need to progress through the main story normally until you reach the Witch’s Castle quest. Once the Witch’s Castle is unlocked, you will get an optional quest (Bonus Quest) from Yulian in the Crevice. The quest, Escaping Linon Mine, is where you will find the Ghost Shield which is required to unlock Maximilian the Impenetrable.
Once you start the Escaping Linon Mine quest, progress normally until you reach a bridge with a second Pot-Belly Spider of the chapter. After defeating the Pot-Belly Spider, you will find a webbed corpse right above the spider’s location. Shoot a Javelin towards the corpse to drop it. After the corpse drops to the ground, loot it to obtain the Ghost Shield. If you’re running out of Spirit to use as a Javelin, you can challenge a Red Phantom nearby to refill your Spirit Gauge.
After obtaining the Ghost Shield, you can unlock Maximilian the Impenetrable using a Nexus.
Maximilian the Impenetrable Stats
The Phantom, Maximilian the Impenetrable, offers a passive boost to your Guard Stamina Damage. At its base level, the Phantom reduces the Guard Stamina Damage by 4%. While it might look quite low, a 4% Stamina DMG reduction equates to roughly one-third of the actual Stamina cost for guarding attacks. Furthermore, you can boost Stamina DMG reduction by performing Brink Guards. Additionally, with every level, Stamina DMG reduction increases by 0.4%. Pairing this with an Armor set that offers passive stamina regeneration, you can easily offset the stamina cost during combat. Additionally, Maximilian, when awakened, restores 150 Stamina upon performing a Brink Guard.

Base perks
- Level 1: Guard Stamina Damage Decrease – 4.0%
- Level 2: Guard Stamina Damage Decrease – 4.4%
Awakened perks
- Level 1: Restores 150 Stamina upon performing a Brink Guard.
- Level 2: Increases Stamina Damage by 5% upon performing Brink Guard.
Do note that Level 2 of the Awakened perk can be stacked up to 5 times while performing consecutive Brink Guards. However, the stack resets upon taking damage or performing a regular guard.
