Everything you need to know about Renoir’s Drafts in Clair Obscur Expedition 33, including how to unlock it, level requirement, and more.

Renoir’s Drafts is one of the most challenging endgame areas in Clair Obscur Expedition 33. However, it’s also among the most elusive locations in the game, hidden behind a missable optional quest. However, if you plan to go through everything the game has to offer and are looking for that true “endgame challenge,” you should not miss out on Renoir’s Drafts.
You can technically reach the area’s starting point quite early in the game, i.e., in Act 2. However, you won’t be able to enter Renoir’s Drafts until you’ve reached Act 3 and completed Esquie’s side quest. In terms of sheer difficulty, Renoir’s Drafts is leagues above any other area in the game, surpassing even the Dark Shores and the Flying Manor.
Thankfully, unlocking the area isn’t particularly difficult. Here’s everything you need to know about Renoir’s Drafts in Clair Obscur Expedition 33 and how to unlock it.
Where To Find Renoir’s Drafts in Clair Obscur Expedition 33?

Renoir’s Draft can be found once you reach Act 2 in Clair Obscur Expedition. After completing the initial story-related bits in Act 2, you will unlock Esquie’s ability to swim. Additionally, you also need to complete the Forgotten Battlefield area before you can get access to the entire map.
After completing the Forgotten Battlefield, you can use Esquie to simply swim up to the location of the Axons. Once you make it to the intersection of both Visages and Sirene, you will find a small patch on the water that you can interact with. This is Renoir’s Drafts. However, you cannot enter the area just yet. To do so, you will need to complete Act 2 and unlock Esqiue’s final ability.
How To Enter Renoir’s Drafts
To enter Renoir’s Drafts, you need to increase your relationship with Esquie to at least Level 6. To do so, you will need to reach Act 3 and complete an optional quest for Esquie. The quest is quite short and requires you to battle against Francoise.
However, as long as you’ve kept Verso equipped with upgraded weapons and Painted Power Pictos, defeating Francoise shouldn’t be too much of a hassle. After you defeat Francoise, talk to Esquie to complete his quest. After that, head to the Continent to get access to Esquie’s underwater swimming ability. With the ability unlocked, head back to Renoir’s Drafts, and you will be able to enter it.
However, do note that Renoir’s Drafts is meant as the quintessential endgame challenge. And the area’s recommended level requirement is 85 and above. We recommend heading to Renoir’s Drafts after you’ve completed almost every other piece of content in the game, including the optional boss fights against Chromatic Nevrons, Clea, and even the Endless Towers.
Bosses in Renoir’s Drafts

Renoir’s Drafts has a single main boss, which is the most challenging encounter in the entire game, and a handful of minibosses. The minibosses are essentially the Creations, albeit with additional enemies. And the main boss of Renoir’s Drafts is Simon, who has roughly 72 million HP. Additionally, Renoir’s Drafts is a great area to farm both XP and Colour of Lumina.
