Learn how to assassinate Faelian discreetly and earn a bonus reward in ‘The Lonely Wanderer’ quest for Oblivion Remastered.
The Dark Brotherhood’s main questline offers several assassination quests that present unique challenges and often provide bonus rewards for completing them under specific conditions. “The Lonely Wanderer” is the sixth main quest you can complete for the organization after speaking with Ocheeva. The mission can be carried out in several different ways, and completing its bonus objective requires subtlety.
Steps To Complete The Lonely Wanderer Quest in Oblivion Remastered
Speak with Ocheeva, and she will give you the contract to assassinate Faelian, a high elf who has squandered his wealth on Skooma. To receive a bonus, you must kill him in a private, indoor location with no witnesses around. The detective work in this quest involves raising the disposition of a few NPCs above 50. This can be done using the persuasion minigame or the Charm spell.
Locate Faelian
To find Faelian, speak with any high elf in the Imperial City whose disposition is above 50. They will direct you to the Tiber Septim Hotel, located in the Talos Plaza District. At the hotel, talk to Augusta Calidia, the proprietor. She will provide Faelian’s backstory and reveal that he visits the hotel to see his girlfriend, Atraena.
Atraena can be found in the hotel’s study in the morning, in the lobby between 3 p.m. and 8 p.m., and in her room at night. If your disposition with her is above 50, she will reveal that Faelian goes to Lorkmir’s house in the Elven Gardens District to drink Skooma there because it is abandoned.
You need to kill Faelian inside Lorkmir’s house to claim the contract bonus. There are two simple ways to accomplish this:
1. Offer Faelian Skooma
If you meet Faelian at the hotel, you can talk to him, and he will ask to meet outside. Speak to him outside and offer him Skooma. He will give you the keys to Lorkmir’s house so you can drink with him there. Head to Lorkmir’s house and kill Faelian when he arrives.
2. Lockpick Lorkmir’s House
Alternatively, you can lockpick the door to Lorkmir’s house. Wait for Faelian to enter and kill him once he does. Faelian will be present in the house during the day. If you want to skip all the aforementioned information gathering, you can break into Lorkmir’s house immediately after activating the quest and assassinate Faelian there.
The Lonely Wanderer Rewards
After eliminating Faelian, speak to Ocheeva. You receive the following rewards:
- 600 gold
- 1 Infamy point
- Rank of Eliminator (if not earned already)
- Sanctuary Well Key (if not earned already)
Bonus:
- Shadowhunt Bow
- 10 base damage
- Damage Health and Damage Magicka enchantments
