Baldur’s Gate 3 floods players with choices at each stage, allowing them to craft their own unique experience. These choices determine the path of the main story as well as the fates of the individual characters you meet and interact with. But, more often than not, you’re left in the dark and can’t really predict the outcome of a choice. Raphael, in particular, is a crafty fiend and deceptive in nature, leaving players confused about how to deal with him. The Cambion offers a lucrative deal in Act 3, and you can accept or refuse.

In this guide, we shall go over Raphael’s deal, its details, and whether you should accept or refuse the cambion.

What is Raphael’s Deal?

You find Raphael speaking to Voss in the Devil’s Den. This is on the upper floor of Sharess’ Caress in Act 3 of Baldur’s Gate 3. Voss is trying to cut a deal with Raphael for the Orphic Hammer, but Raphael refuses to engage. Instead, he will turn his attention to you and offer you a deal.

Raphael will offer you the Orphic Hammer in exchange for the Crown of Karsus, which dominates the Elder Brain. “A Crown for a Hammer,” Raphael will exclaim. You obtain the Crown by defeating the Absolute. The fiend wishes to use the Crown to unite the hells and reign as their one true ruler. On your end, you receive the Orphic Hammer, which lets you free Orpheus. The deal sounds almost too good to pass up and can leave you confused.

Accept Raphael’s Deal

Should you choose to accept the deal, Raphael will bring out a contract for you to sign. Voss will be overjoyed at the news, hoping the Hammer would be enough to free Orpheus. He will then gift a Gith Silver Sword Legendary Weapon. The Emperor will express disappointment at the agreement but will stay by your side regardless. You will have to dominate the Elder Brain at the end of the game to fulfill your end of the agreement.

Should you wish to opt out of the agreement, you can infiltrate the House of Hope and destroy the contract. You will have to fight Raphael to do so.

Refuse Raphael’s Deal

If you refuse his deal, Raphael will express disappointment and mock your judgement. He will, however, stay at the Devil’s Den should you change your mind. Voss, too, will be disappointed but will be at ease if you let him know that you still have your sights on the Hammer, reassuring him that you haven’t given up on Orpheus. The Emperor will approve of your choice to refuse the deal.

If you wish to obtain the hammer after refusing the deal, you will have to steal it from the House of Hope.

Should You Accept or Refuse Raphael’s Deal?

We recommend accepting Raphael’s deal but not following through as the fiend is crafty. While he says he wishes to use the Crown to rule the hells, his ambitions are even more devious. Accept his deal to obtain the legendary weapon. You can then break out of the deal by infiltrating the House of Hope and destroying the contract, letting you play out a more hopeful ending.
