YouTuber WhistlinDiesel went viral after he hunted down people who stole an innocent girl’s truck and scammed her of $25,000.
Cody Detwiler, popularly known as WhistlinDiesel on YouTube, helped a fan recover her stolen truck. He made a video of the whole endeavor which went viral overnight. The YouTuber managed to recover the stolen truck with the help of local law enforcement.
The video goes through his journey of tracking down a scammer and getting a stolen vehicle back. Cody’s video went viral on YouTube and gained over 5.5 million views in less than a week. While the YouTuber succeeded at getting the truck back, he was unable to recover the stolen money.
The WhistlinDiesel YouTube channel has over 8.9 million subscribers. He makes truck videos where he mostly destroys trucks in stunts. YouTube also has multiple videos where he gets back at scammers and recovers his money.
How Did Cody Detwiler Recover the Stolen Truck?
Cody talked about the stolen truck on his WhistlinDiesel channel on January 25, 2025. He told his audience that a girl gave her truck to a repair shop and did not get it back. The store owner allegedly took $25,000 for repairs and disappeared for over six months.
The YouTuber contacted the shop owner who agreed to give the truck back. After waiting for several hours, WhistlinDiesel assumed that he had been scammed and contacted the police. The law enforcement officials told him that he would have to settle the situation in court.
Cody did not want to go through a court procedure, so he kept contacting the police until they agreed to help him. By using informants to locate the truck, the police and the YouTuber retrieved the truck. At the end of the video, he told his audience:
“Tristan (the scammer) still owes Jade money. We’re not going to stop until this is just, and Jade is going to be taken care of regardless. We are also going to legally pursue Tristan for this.”
Who Is WhistlinDiesel?
WhistlinDiesel started his YouTube career in 2015. His first video titled ‘Indiana Bow Season Highlights’ showcasing local wildlife was an immediate success with over 500,000 views. He stopped posting videos for three years before returning to YouTube in 2018. He started posting truck videos which started gaining upwards of one million views.

After his YouTube videos on truck repairs and stress tests became popular, he diversified into scam videos. In a lot of his recent content, he finds people who scam him or other people he knows. He has helped dozens of people recover their money or belongings from scammers.
Cody’s most popular video has over 34 million views. In the video titled ‘Catching the Guy who stole 20 things from me’ he retrieves all his belongings with the help of the local sheriff. In 2024, the YouTuber launched his alcohol brand ‘ALCOLO’ which he actively promotes on his channel. WhistlinDiesel is one of the biggest automotive YouTube channels on the platform with over one billion lifetime views.
