Spells play a pivotal role in Wuchang Fallen Feathers’ combat system. While most of your damage during combat is going to come from the melee weapon of your choice, Spells serve as secondary weapons that are focused purely on either DPS or passive buffs. Most of the early-game Spells that you will unlock in Wuchang as you progress through the story are combat-focused.

However, there are also some Spells that boost your stats or offer similar passive boons. And the best part about Spells in Wuchang is that they can be woven into your melee combos seamlessly. Furthermore, Spells also work as an invaluable tool against some of the toughest endgame bosses in the game.

Suffice it to say, Spells are quite important in Wuchang’s combat system. However, it takes a fair bit of getting used to before you can start using Spells efficiently during boss fights. Here’s everything you need to know about Spells in Wuchang Fallen Feathers.

Spells are usually unlocked as a reward for defeating specific main story or optional bosses in Wuchang Fallen Feathers. As you progress through the first main story arc, you will eventually gain the ability to cast Spells. From that point onwards, you’re capable of casting any Spell in the game without any restriction.

However, you will only be able to use starting Spells as the higher-level ones require more Skyborn Might. Additionally, unlike in Dark Souls or Elden Ring, you don’t have to spec into a specific build to make Spells usable. They’re built to serve as a great secondary option regardless of the build you choose to invest in.

In addition to main story bosses, some Spells can also be unlocked by defeating optional mini-bosses or elite enemies. Furthermore, you can also purchase Spells from the vendors at Shu Sanctuary. However, do note that you will need to progress the vendors’ questline in order to expand their inventory and unlock more Spells to purchase.

How To Use Spells During Combat in Wuchang Fallen Feathers

To use Spells, make sure you have them equipped in the Inventory, in the first place. You can equip a maximum of 4 Spells at any given time. Once you have the Spell equipped, simply press the Y or Triangle button on (Xbox or PS5) controller to cast it. Do note that the default Spell is always the one that is placed first in the Inventory. You can switch the default positions by moving around Spells within the Inventory. Additionally, you can switch between different Spells by pressing and holding Y and pressing the shoulder buttons or the Left Trigger.

That said, do note that in order to cast Spells, you need to have enough Skyborn Might. The Skyborn Might is a resource that can be obtained by attacking enemies or performing perfect dodges, clashes, or deflects.
