How to Get the Slippery Chain Shirt in BG3?
To get the Slippery Chain Shirt in BG3 you must first make your way into the Underdark in Act 1, and discover the entrance to the Festering Cove, where you can find a locked Gilded Chest with the armour inside.
Step 1- Discover the Underdark
First, the best way to get to the section of the Underdark you need to be in is by using the Selunite Outpost waypoint. If you haven’t already unlocked this waypoint another way is by using the Well in the Blighted Village. Interact with it and you only have to pass a low DC roll to discover the bottom.
Travel down and you’ll be in the Whispering Depths. Next, there are some spider enemies and a large, powerful Phase Spider Matriarch boss down here. You’ll need to beat her first before you can jump down into the glowing chasm below.
When you’re ready, cast Feather Fall on yourself and your party, and then jump down in. After landing in the Underdark, head south. You can’t enter the Selunite Outpost from the front, so go around to the west and jump down on the ledges along the side.
Step 2- Find the entrance to the Festering Cove
The paths down here will eventually take you to the Arcane Tower. To find the Festering Cove, however, you’ll want to stop after you first climb down into the red glowing area with all the exploding mushrooms.
Just over to the left, you’ll see a little alcove. You can barely see it, but if you move your cursor over the area the Cragged Rock should be highlighted. There will be a couple of mushroom ledges along the side wall. Use a ranged weapon first to shoot the red/orange mushroom across the way. Then jump over and climb down the Cragged Rock.
Step 3- Find the Gilded Chest in the Festering Cove
The Gilded Chest that holds the Slippery Chain Shirt inside can be found to the far north of the Festering Cove map. You’ll likely need to move your camera around to see the blue ledges you’ll need to jump across. Again, be sure to use a ranged attack to explode the orange mushrooms before jumping.
You’ll find the Gilded Chest on the second platform. Use a character like Astarion with a high Sleight of Hand skill to first disarm the chest, then unlock it. Both steps require passing a 10 DC roll. Now you can successfully collect the Slippery Chain Shirt!
How to Use Slippery Chain Shirt in BG3?
The best way to use the Slippery Chain Main Shirt in BG3 would be to equip it to a support class with several healing spells like Clerics or Druids. This will allow them to grant an extra benefit to any party member who needs healing. Not only will they receive the base HP from the spell, but the Cautious Healer trait also allows the healed ally a chance to move away from an attacker.
This is a great additional bonus for any party members who have come under attack and need a chance to get away and recover.
