However, the major downside with this weapon is that it doesn’t work like other items with the Weapon Homing effect. Instead of automatically returning safely to your equipped hand, this axe comes back to you blade-first. This will cause 1d6+1 to your character.
Furthermore, the Comeback Handaxe does not re-equip itself to your character, either. Instead, it only returns to your inventory. Meaning that in order to use it again, you will have to spend an Action to equip it.

How to Get the Comeback Handaxe in BG3?
To get the Comback Handaxe in Baldur’s Gate 3 you must enter the Circus of the Last Days in Act 3 and play the spin-the-wheel game offered by the Djinni named Akabi.
Step 1- Find Akabi at the Circus of the Last Days
The Circus of the Last Days is located on the eastern side of the Rivington area, where you’ll start Act 3. To get there, head west from the Rivington waypoint, following the street that eventually leads to the South Span Checkpoint. The Circus of the Last Days will be the first section on your left, walled off an iron fence. To get through the main entrance, you’ll need to persuade Klaus and Benji that you’re not a threat. If that doesn’t work, you can sneak in by climbing through a gap in the fence to the north.
Once inside, head to the south side of the Circus to find Akabi. This red Djinni is hard to miss, as he’s floating next to his Spin the Wheel game.
Step 2- Play Akabi’s Spin the Wheel Game
Finally, getting the Comeback Handaxe in Baldur’s Gate 3 will require you to play Spin the Wheel. Furthermore, because this is a game of chance, you may have to play multiple times. To win the Comeback Handaxe as a consolation prize you must NOT steal the Djinni Ring from Akabi. Directly after that, he will banish you to a jungle area where you can find Nyrulna.
While this is a great end-game weapon you definitely want to collect, you need to play the game normally first.
Additionally, spinning the wheel will cost you 500 gold each time. Akabi has 16 consolation prizes to reward, and some of them are just junk items. Therefore, this could be an expensive process. The prizes appear to be rewarded in random order, and you can’t guarantee when the item you want will pop up. Keep paying the fee and spinning the wheel, and eventually, the Comeback Handaxe will be yours.
How to Use Comeback Handaxe in BG3?
The best way to use the Comeback Handaxe in Baldur’s Gate 3 is probably by not using it very much. Because the Comeback Handaxe causes damage to your character on return, the benefit usually isn’t worth the cost. As a common item found in Act 3, you would be better off finding other, more powerful weapons to wield.
In fact, the Nyrulna trident is the grandprize in the spin game, though you have to anger Akabi so he’ll banish you first. This weapon has a proper Weapon Homing trait on it, and it does great AOE damage with thrown and will safely return to you.
If you really want to use the Comeback Handaxe, then it’s better to equip to a standard melee character who isn’t going to throw it.
