Sidemen member Miniminter advocated for the annual charity matches to stop because he thinks future events can’t get better.

Sidemen member and Twitch streamer Simon “Miniminter” claims that the content group should stop doing charity matches. The YouTuber came to that conclusion because “everything happened” in the recently concluded Sidemen Charity Match 2025 football (soccer) event. He feels that a future event cannot eclipse this year’s match and would not live up to expectations.
Miniminter clarified that he is not advocating for the matches to stop. He was simply complimenting this year’s event in a hyperbolic fashion. The YouTuber stated that everyone who meant to score goals at the event did so at the recently concluded event.
This year’s Sidemen Charity Match ended with a 9-9 scoreline that was decided by a 4-5 penalty shootout. Almost all the participants scored goals, and Miniminter joked about how Felix “xQc” Lengyel also ended up on the scoreboard with an own goal.
Why Miniminter Wants the Sidemen Charity Matches To Stop
Miniminter answered Sidemen Charity Match questions:
“The reason I’m saying I don’t think we should have another one personally, is because, we got everything possible. We got a Speed’s goal, we got a Josh (Zerkaa) goal, we got penalties. It’s a high scoring game. You got people that you never would have thought would get a goal.”
He added that almost all the content creators scored, and it would be impossible to replicate the highs of this year’s match:
“Logan Paul scored. Kai scored. Lachlan scored. Clarke scored. Weller’s back on the same team as Logan and JJ, he scored. Like, everything happened that we could really ask for. Penalties, Sketch, who’s you know being slated for being a goalkeeper. xQc.”
Will There Be More Sidemen Charity Matches?
Miniminter clarified that while he does not think Sidemen should host more charity matches, the events should continue. The event has been held six times since 2016 and has raised money for charitable causes.
The 2022 charity match entered the Guinness World Records for being the YouTube charity sports match with the highest live viewership. The event had over 2.5 million viewers, and Miniminter’s hat trick helped the Sidemen win the event that year.
Sidemen raised the most money in 2025, with sponsorships, ticket sales, and personal contributions raising over $6.1 million for the BBC Children in Need, Bright Side, and M7 Education foundations.
Miniminter is the leading goalscorer with 11 goals in six matches. While he secured a 31st-minute goal this year to help his team (Sidemen FC) keep up with the YouTube All-Stars, he failed to score in the penalty shootout, leading his team to a loss. The charity event is on track to return in 2026 with new and returning YouTubers, Twitch streamers, and Sidemen members.
