What Does the Gear Wrench Do in Blue Prince? 

The Gear Wrench is a special item you can obtain while exploring the estate. It does not have any effect until you start drafting a mechanical room. Mechanical rooms, or gear-type rooms, are likely associated with technology or machinery and can alter the effects of other rooms or mechanisms. These include Workshop, Security, Utility Closet, Laboratory, Pump Room, and Boiler Room.

When drafting a mechanical floor plan while having the Gear Wrench in your inventory, the rooms’ rarity may be permanently adjusted. This drastically affects how often mechanical rooms appear in the drafting pool, either increasing or decreasing their spawn rates.

How To Use Gear Wrench in Blue Prince

While adjusting the rarity of the rooms can offer a great advantage, it can also result in backlash if not used properly. Since the outcomes are not guaranteed, it may decrease the spawn rate of common mechanical floor plans like Security and Utility Closet.
