Sir Erwin the Gallant Cavalier is a brand-new boss who unlocks the Stables structure in V Rising. Here’s how to defeat him.
With the release of the Oakveil update in V Rising, many existing areas have been updated with new resources, structures, and bosses. Sir Erwin the Gallant Cavalier is one such new boss that you can find in the Dunley Farmlands. He is a valiant horse rider who can incorporate Storm magic in his attacks. Additionally, defeating him unlocks the Stables structure, which can upgrade the stats of your horse.
Here’s a guide on how you can beat Sir Wrwin the Gallant Cavalier in V Rising.

Defeating Sir Erwin in V Rising
You can find Sir Erwin roaming around on his horse at the Horse Track. The location is in the southwestern section of Dunley Farmlands. He is in a very open area, so initiate the fight just when the sun is about to set. This way, you won’t have to worry about burning under the sun during the boss fight.
Sir Erwin is a Level 46 V Blood Carrier. However, you should not challenge him before you reach Level 50 because of the difficulty. We recommend unlocking and using the daggers, as using this weapon can make the fight much easier. Daggers have a high fire rate, but sacrifice some damage for higher mobility, which is preferable when fighting a fast horse rider.
Here are all of Sir Erwin’s attacks and how you can counter them:
- His basic attack is a sword slash that he constantly does while riding his horse. You have to avoid his melee range to not take damage.
- Sir Erwin occasionally shoots out orbs of lightning. These orbs go in a straight line and speed up as they travel. You can teleport to the sides to avoid coming in contact with the orbs.
- Sir Erwin spawns a lightning steed beside him. Both Sir Erwin and the steed dash at you till you destroy the lightning steed. Fortunately, the steed is very weak, so you can kill it in a few attacks. Moreover, you can summon skeletons to distract your enemies for a bit.
- Sir Erwin’s sword glows, and he calls down bolts of thunder. There is a small indication of where the thunder is going to strike, so you can dodge in time.
- While running for a while, Sir Erwin jumps up in the air and comes crashing down, doing a large AoE attack. Dash away from where he is about to land to avoid taking major damage.
- Sir Erwin’s ultimate attack starts when his health is 50% down. He dashes towards you like normal, but rains down countless thunderbolts behind him as he goes. There are small gaps in the attack where you can stand to avoid them. However, you do not get a lot of time to position yourself, so you have to be quick.
Utilise your skeletons at perfect moments and keep hitting with daggers to chip away at his health. Sir Erwin rotates very slowly; use this opportunity to your advantage to dish out damage. The bench area of the tracks is currently bugged; lure Sir Erwin to that location. The uneven terrain of the benches can occasionally bug out Erwin and make him cancel his attacks.

Once you bring Sir Erwin’s health down to zero, absorb his V Blood to obtain the following rewards:
