Tears of the Kingdom Dragons Tear interaction

The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom – Dragon’s Tears and Geoglyphs Guide

What are Dragon’s Tears in Tears of the Kingdom?

In the Tears of the Kingdom game Dragon’s Tears and Geoglyphs are an important part of the main story. They’ll provide you and Link with information on what happened to Princess Zelda and where she may be. They are not an obvious part of the main story quests, and if you’re focused in on the adventure you might miss where to first pick these up. So keep reading our Tears of the Kingdom – Dragon’s Tears and Geoglyphs Guide and we’ll tell you how to start this important quest and where to find all of the Tears!

IMPORTANT: Because the Tears reveal a big part of the story (or Zelda’s part of it) you’ll want to be proceed with caution. We’ll try to keep as much spoiler information out as possible, but there is some risk.

How to start the Dragon’s Tears Quest

You’ll first need to pick up a prerequisite quest called ‘Impa and the Geoglyphs’. You’ll find this as you are following the main quest early on in the game. After visiting Lookout’s Landing once you reach the surface land of Hyrule, the main quest will give you four main objectives. But certain characters (Purah, especially) make strong suggestions about heading northeast to Herba first.

As you are traveling along the road from Lookout’s Landing northeast into Lindor’s Brow just across the boarder you’ll come to New Serenne Stable. Stop to talk to a man standing with his donkey on your right and he’ll point out a platform in the field where Impa is.

Visit Impa and she tell you about the Geoglyphs. She needs to get a bird’s eye view, and you can help by repairing her hotair ballon. Do so, and jump on for the ride. From way up you’ll be able to see the whole figure ‘drawn’ out in the grasses below.

Walk up and interact with the puddle

Jump out and use your glider to float all the way up to the ‘head’ of the figure. There you will find the first tear – which looks like an unassuming puddle in the ground.

After watching the memory Link will speak to Impa again and unlock The Dragon’s Tears main story quest.
