Races in Baldur’s Gate 3 have abilities and features that are essential to every build and define your character’s identity.
The Baldur’s Gate 3 All Races and Abilities Guide breaks down all the available races and sub-races along with their traits so you can make an informed choice when pairing race with class/sub-classes and backgrounds.
All Available Races in Baldur’s Gate 3
The very first choice you’ll be making in that process is which Race you wish to play as. There are 11 races available to choose from, with 8 of those races having additional sub-races.
All races have their advantages, typically shown as one or two racial features. These are traits common to all members of that particular race. Racial Features can include things like Darkvision, which allows an individual to see in the darkness as if there were some available dim light. Or Fey Ancestry, which adds protection from charms and prevents you from being put to sleep.
Different races also have various Proficiencies, which are areas of expertise that characters can have. These can be with certain types of weapons, armor, or a type of craft skill.
