They are quite powerful additions to your vehicle and provide two different aspects to your journey. They are not available right from the moment you unlock the truck, though, and you will have to make significant progress in-game to get to the required chapter.

When Does Pickup Off-Roader Truck’s Sticky Cannon and Heavy Machine Gun Unlock in DS2?

The data for the Sticky Cannon and the Heavy Machine for the truck unlocks once you connect the F2 South Distribution Center to the chiral network. It happens after you complete order no. 19, where you deliver necrobiotes to F2 from the Northern Environmental Observatory.

What Are Sticky Cannon and Heavy Machine Gun for the Truck in DS2?

The Sticky Cannon automatically picks up cargo lying on the ground without you having to get out of the truck. The picked-up cargo is placed in the truck’s cargo shelf and can be checked later. The Sticky Cannon will stop functioning once the truck has reached its cargo limit. You also cannot manually control the Sticky Cannon.

In my experience, the Sticky Cannon’s range usually works in a front-facing cone relative to the truck. It can be a little finicky if there are rocks or any other obstacles. There’s a distinctive audio cue that lets you know the Sticky Cannon has detected something. The Sticky Cannon cannot pick up chiral crystals.

The Heavy Machine Gun for the truck in Death Stranding 2 is quite effective in dealing with human enemies, mechs, and BTs, although it is more adept at tackling the first two, in my opinion. It also seems to have a similar front-facing cone where it searches for targets. After several shots, there is a short cooldown time. The gun also takes a little time to designate its target, which you can see with a red line.

Best Uses for Sticky Cannon and Heavy Machine Gun for the Truck in Death Stranding 2

For your normal adventures, a Sticky Cannon and a Heavy Machine Gun on either side of your truck are perfect in Death Stranding 2. Do keep in mind that they only work when you are sitting in the driver’s seat of the vehicle.

The Sticky Cannon will be especially of help in gathering materials (for repairing roads/restarting monorails) and lost cargo (to increase connections and unlock items with preppers). The Heavy Machine Gun is effective in case you come across Armed Survivalists during your delivery or a BT-infested area.

For missions where you have to tackle or defeat enemies outright, put two Heavy Machine Guns on either side of the truck. They will make short work of any enemy that they target, while you also fire from your driver’s seat.

The truck does take damage, and getting hit with anything that messes with the electronics will knock you out of the vehicle temporarily. Navigate such firefights carefully. You will want to draw out the militants toward yourself while making sure the truck is facing them.
