The Light of Creation is one of the more unique and lore-rich weapons you can find early in Baldur’s Gate 3. Charged with mysterious power and tied to ancient technology, this two-handed weapon isn’t just visually striking, it packs a punch with electrifying effects that can change the flow of combat. In this guide, we’ll explore the Light of Creation, how to acquire it, and tips for using it effectively in Baldur’s Gate 3.
What is the Light of Creation in BG3?
In Baldur’s Gate 3, the Light of Creation is a two-handed Halberd with very good damage output and deals additional lighting damage. The overcharge buff has a chance to stun the wielder unless it’s a construct, but the damage is still very worth it if you need a good halberd early in the game. From the same enemy, you’ll loot the Guiding Light that unlocks the basement in the Arcane Tower Basement where you can find other fantastic items such as Staff of Arcane Blessing, The Sparkswall, and Uncovered Mysteries.
You can equip it to your character’s main hand weapon slot in the inventory, providing additional bonuses and buffs. The user needs Martial weapon proficiency or suffers penalties while wearing the weapon. You can equip it on any class, companion, or character with Martial Weapon Proficiency.

How to Get Light of Creation in BG3? Explained
To get the Light of Creation, you must first enter the Underdark. There are a few entrances, including trying the Shattered Sanctum and Auntie Ethel’s house, but I’ll quickly explain how to get there through the Whispering Depths underneath Blighted Village. You’ll need the potion, scroll, or spell of Feather Fall, so ensure you have one before proceeding.
Find the Underdark
Set your course west from Emerald Grove, and you’ll easily find the Blighted Village and a well in the middle. You must pass an Investigation skill check of 10 DC, to use it and climb down to the Whispering Depths. Inside the cave system, there are giant Spiders and Spider Matriarchs (X: -543 Y: -366). You must defeat them first, so we advise you to reach at least level 3 so you’ll have no problem with the fight and surviving in the Underdark.
Once you are ready and defeated the spiders, you need to jump down the big tunnel (X: -543 Y: -366) leading straight down to the Underdark, and that’s when you need the Feather Fall spell. Use it so you won’t take any fall damage. In the Underdark, you must find the Arcane Tower. Get the Light of Creation
You can get the Light of Creation from the Bernard at Arcane Tower in the Underdark during Act 1. Here is a short overview of how to get the Light of Creation in BG3:
- Complete the prologue, Progress in Act 1(Advised level 3)
- Head West from Emerald Grove to reach Blighted Village
- Enter the Underdark – The easiest way is to use the well in the center of the Blighted Village and jump down the hole in Whispering Depths (X: -543 Y: -366).
- Head west to the Arcane Tower (X: -4, Y: -29)
- Jump on mushrooms to get to the back of the tower.
- Gather the Sussur flower from the garden in the back.
- Lockpick the back door.
- Deactivate the turrets and activate the lift by placing the Sussur Flower in the generator at the lowest level.
- Use the Lift to ascend to the top of the tower and face the construct guardians and Bernard there.
- Defeat Bernard (X: -34, Y: -281). You must kill him to get the halberd
- Get the Light of Creation from Bernardin BG3.
How to Use the Light of Creation in BG3?
The best way to use the Light of Creation in BG3 is by equipping it to a strong melee build that has a high Constitution score such as a Barbarian or Fighter. They will have the best chance of succeeding on the 10 DC Constitution rolls to prevent becoming stunned. While there is some risk to equipping this weapon, the extra Lightning damage can be worth it.
Tips and Tricks for Light of Creation in BG3
These are the best tips and tricks for finding and using Light of Creation in Baldur’s Gate 3:
- You can wear the Gloves of the Automaton from Barcus Wroot in Act 2, which is the only known way for a party member to be considered a construct. With these on, you will be save from the Overcharge passive.
- The Overcharge passive will require you to pass a 10 DC Constitution roll on every attack or fall Stunned.
- The Helm of Balduran found in Act 3 also provides immunity to Stun, but by that point you will likely have equipped more powerful weapons.
