Here are some of the most prominent and culturally referenced Easter eggs from popular movies and games in Assassin’s Creed Shadows.

Assassin’s Creed Shadows holds a deep, profound sense of respect towards the cultural and traditional aspects of Japan. Throughout the game, prominent historical figures, either famous or infamous, are featured in their avatars. Let us have a close look at some easter eggs that are sneakily integrated within the game.
Easter eggs refer to when a game, movie, or any form of digital media provides a hidden message within the media for the players to find and discover, giving them the sense of finding something unique. It could either be a message from the team or a reference to prominent moments or figures from other media.
1. Kimetsu No Yaiba (Demon Slayer) Reference in Assassin’s Creed Shadows

The game gives a graceful nod to another popular Japanese anime that has popularized the samurai, Demon Slayer. To uncover this, the player needs to head towards the secret path by maneuvering around a maze of a location, including a series of puzzles and risky jumps.
Once at the location, you will realise just how closely it resembles the location where Tanjiro (the Demon Slayer protagonist) did his training for his Water Breathing Technique and had to slice a boulder in half. At the location, you will see a split rock surrounded by wisteria flowers, just like in the show, offering a nostalgic sense of homage to the show.
2. Skyrim Reference in Assassin’s Creed Shadows

This is a reference that is subject to being missed due to how precise and literal it is. When playing the game Skyrim, you eventually encounter a Dawnstar Guard who delivers the line, “I used to be an adventurer like you. Then I took an arrow to the knee…”
Taking this reference into account, when playing Assassin’s Creed Shadows, equip your bow and shoot someone in the knee. You will unlock this fun little trophy called the Adventurer. It’s a unique Easter egg in my books.
3. Naruto Run Reference in Assassin’s Creed Shadows

The anime series Naruto has immortalized the famous run, which would have the players leaning forward and sprinting with their arms back throughout the series. There is no apparent reason as to why they do that unique run. Some believe that it helps conserve energy, while others think it is just to add more dramatic effect.
But the run is present in the game, allowing the players to rejoice and roleplay as one of their favorite characters, even if just briefly. This is not just an assumption but a fact, which was confirmed by the director himself. He mentioned that the fans would be able to perform their own ‘Naruto run’ while running across rooftops. This is a fun little homage to the anime, letting us fans turn into the popular ninja for a brief moment.
4. Tomb Raider Trophy in Assassin’s Creed Shadows

Kofun’s are a series of dungeon quests spread out across the entire map. These kofuns hold many secrets and legendary gears for the players to deeply explore and be rewarded for their expenditures. When the player explores their first Kofun, they will find a loot chest to complete the quest of the Kofun.
As soon as you open it, you will be given a reward of some legendary weapon as well as a trophy. This trophy will be the ‘Kofun Raider,’ which is a straight reference to Tomb Raider. The word Kofun itself directly translates to tomb.
5. This Is Sparta Reference in Assassin’s Creed Shadows

The movie 300 is one of the most memed and referenced movies, mainly due to one famous moment. The moment where the protagonist brogue kicks a person in the chest, sending him straight down into a well. Assassin’s Creed Shadows has sneakily managed to reference this badass scene in the game.
You will receive a skill that you can unlock for Yasuke called the ‘War Kick.’ This skill enables you to deliver a crushing kick at your opponent, sending them flying a distance. Now, you use this ability on an opponent on a rooftop or off a cliff. Once he flies off to his death, you receive a trophy called ‘This is Japan, actually.’ This perfectly resonates with the timeless moment in the movie 300, letting the players enact the scene in all its glory.
