Discover the Kuramadera Temple and complete its Kuji-kiri activity as Naoe with the help of this Assassin’s Creed Shadows guide.

Situated in Yamashiro and close to Kyoto, the Kuramadera Temple is home to a Kuji-kiri activity for Naoe that helps her advance her Knowledge Rank. The location also has a fast-travel point to unlock, lost pages to find, and a cultural discovery entry. The site even harbors The Horseman assassination target for ‘The Man Behind the Mask’ main story quest.
Kuramadera Temple Kuji-kiri Location in Assassin’s Creed Shadows

The Kuramadera Temple is perched on a mountain north of Kyoto in the Genbu Highlands sub-region. It lies just northeast of the Haunted Tatarigami Village and northwest of Kurama Onsen. The closest fast travel point to the temple is the Genbu Panorama viewpoint at Namikiri Fudoson Shrine. Once you reach the temple location, pass through and exit it on the northeastern side near the viewpoint. The path curves sharply in a hairpin bend and leads to a higher vantage point where you can sit down and meditate. Use the observation tool to pinpoint the Kuji-kiri spot if required.
How to Complete Kuramadera Temple Kuji-kiri

As Naoe sits down to meditate, she will perform Kuji-kiri hand signs. There will be four circles on the screen: top, bottom, left, and right. Each circle will have a button prompt within it. You need to press the button when its corresponding circle glows after a ring contracts around it. The pattern in which the circles will glow for Kuramadera Temple Kuji-kiri is:
- Top > Right > Bottom > Left
Once you begin to match the correct button presses, their prompts inside the circles will slowly disappear. Continue pressing the buttons rhythmically to complete the side activity. If you want to simplify the process, you can set quick-time events to complete automatically:
- Options > Gameplay > Quick Time Events > Auto
Kuramadera Temple Kuji-kiri Rewards
Completing the Kuji-kiri activity will reward you with 500 XP and one Knowledge Point. You can earn another point by searching the Kuramadera Temple for two lost pages. The game also has a cultural discovery entry about the temple. The monument’s real-life counterpart is one of the most revered and popular temples in Japan. It houses several national treasures, including Buddhist statues, which survived despite the temple having burned down multiple times during the medieval era.
