Assassin’s Creed Shadows features several romance options, some exclusive to Naoe or Yasuke, while others are available to both. In addition to this, these romance options are available for both same-sex and opposite-sex relationships. These optional activities do not affect the main storyline. When speaking with an NPC, choose the dialogue option with a cupid heart to progress toward the romance.

Romancing Ibuki in Assassin’s Creed Shadows

In AC Shadows, you cannot romance Ibuki through just one quest. It is a series of decisions across multiple quests that will eventually lead to a romance with him. Also, it is crucial to note that you must choose Yasuke as the character to romance Ibuki. The quests that will impact the outcome of romancing Ibuki are:

Ambush Interrupted
Homecoming
Putting Down Roots

In the Ambush Interrupted quest, you will find Ibuki in the Kashiwara village. Upon approaching him, a cutscene will start, where Ibuki will ask you about past events when Yasuke used to aid Nobunaga. Next, a dialogue with the following choices will open:

I was following orders
I have changed

Select the second option to win Ibuki’s trust. Afterward, assists Ibuki in fighting and defeating Nakatomi’s soldiers. Next, a cutscene will start where a woman haggles with a thief. Ibuki will ask you about the thief’s fate. You get the following choices:

I would exile him
I would forgive him

Choose the second option, and Ibuki will praise you for your justice and kindness, concluding the mission.

During the final scenes of the Ambush Interrupted mission, Ibuki informs Yasuke that if they are to meet again in the future, they should meet at Hijiyama. Once you arrive, you will meet Ibuki, and he will tell you that the Castle is under Kyobei’s control, but all the soldiers fighting are from Nakatomi. This will trigger a dialogue with these choices:

Maybe you’re overthinking it.
I am here to help.

Select the second option to move the conversation ahead in a positive manner. Next, Yasuke and Ibuki head to the Castle, where they find Kyobei being held hostage by Nakatomi. Soon, a dialogue will open with the following options:

Fight with us Kyobei.
Kyobei is too weak.

Select the first option, and a brawl will start where you must defeat Nakatomi’s soldiers. Once you emerge victorious, a cutscene will trigger with Ibuki and Kyobei having a conversation. In the next cutscene, you will find Ibuki and Yasuke discussing the flower festival. Soon, there will be a dialogue with these alternatives:

This conversation is over my head.
Your mind works in beautiful ways.

Select the second choice, as it will be highlighted with a heart. In the next scene, you will find Ibuki sitting by the shore. Upon approaching, he will inform you that Kyobei has exiled himself, and he already misses him. This will lead to a dialogue choice:

You don’t have to be alone
You are strong, Ibuki

Select the first option, and you will be able to recruit Ibuki.

Putting Down Roots

Once you have successfully recruited Ibuki, head to your hideout to conclude the romance with him. After arriving, Ibuki will discuss the upgrade of the hideout. Then, a dialogue will emerge:

Your standards are high.
You have lovely eyes.

Select the second choice to flirt with Ibuki. Next, you must bring blue anemone seeds to him to get the following choices of reply:

I’m glad we are friends.
I want more than friendship.

Choose the second dialogue, and an intimate cutscene will begin.
