How To Get Masakado's Vengeance Trinket in Assassin's Creed Shadows

Learn how to complete the Ishibutai Kofun challenge in Assassin’s Creed Shadows to earn the Masakado’s Vengeance Legendary Trinket.

Masakado’s Vengeance is a legendary trinket in Assassin’s Creed Shadows that can only be equipped by Naoe. The trinket increases Naoe’s health by 15%, critical chance by 8%, and Vulnerable Damage by 30%. It comes with +1% damage per unspent Mastery Point Legendary Engraving and has another free engraving slot for you to fill using the Hideout’s blacksmith.

The Masakado’s Vengeance Trinket is located in Ishibutai Kofun’s Legendary Chest. Ishibutai Kofun is a tomb situated southeast of the Asuka Rocks Basin in the Yamato region. The closest fast-travel point to Ishibutai Kofun is the Gose Kakurega, which is directly southwest of it. Naoe is the recommended character to complete the challenge, as it involves plenty of parkour.

Once you have arrived at Ishibutai Kofun, descend its steps and head through its entrance leading underground. In the first room, squeeze through the crack in the left wall. Loot the chest in the middle of the next room. You will not be able to proceed straight ahead because the incline is too steep to climb. Instead, turn right and crawl under the gap in the wall.

Chamber 1

In the next section, jump down onto the small platform sticking out of the rocks below and press the jump button while moving ahead to skip across to the larger platform. Once there, look up to find a grapple point and jump while launching your grappling hook. Jump again at the end of the swing to land on the far side.

Leap onto the logs below and jump over them one at a time, just like the earlier platforms. Go prone and crawl under the gap before climbing up and heading to the next parkour section.

Chamber 2

Jump directly onto the first platform and walk to the end of the plank protruding from it. Repeat the process for the two small platforms ahead and swing across the gap by grappling to the point above. Do the same for the next gap and reach the end of the section.

Chamber 3

Jump onto the wooden beams and swing across to the large platform before leaping over the next beam and swinging to the far side. Go prone and crawl through the tunnel ahead.

To cross the chasm ahead, grapple and swing to the rocks on the right. Use the grappling hook again on the point above and keep moving ahead. There will be a small chest ahead, which you can loot to gain some crafting resources.

There will be a grappling point below, which will be out of reach. You have to slide down the rock and grapple as soon as the prompt appears. Jumping while sliding will make the prompt appear sooner. In case you miss the prompt, you can climb up the rocks on the left and get back to the starting area.

After successfully grappling onto the point, use the “Toggle Ascend/Descend” button (Q on PC) and press the downward movement key to increase the length of the rope. Press “Toggle Swing” with the same key and jump over the platform ahead after building momentum by swinging back and forth.

Grapple across the gap ahead, loot the small chest, and jump over the beams on the right. Climb up the rocky ledge and use the grappling hook again to swing across to the far side. Climb straight up as far as possible and then shimmy to the left to head to the chest chamber.

Cross the steps and run up to the chest at the end of the room. Loot the legendary chest to find the Masakado’s Vengeance – Legendary Trinket and Damage for Unspent Mastery Points – Legendary Engraving. You will also receive 2,000 XP and a Knowledge Point for completing the trial.
