Here’s your guide to The Crows in Clair Obscur Expedition 33. Explore how to get there, solve the puzzle, and grab every reward.

Once you have progressed far enough into Clair Obscur Expedition 33, a quiet yet significant area opens up to the west of the Visages. Known simply as The Crows, this location stands as a compact yet densely packed zone within The Continent. To get here, you have to fulfill a certain condition.
How To Access The Crows in Clair Obscur Expedition 33

Esquie’s swimming ability is the only way forward. That skill becomes available only after advancing through Old Lumiere, which is part of the main storyline. When you have gained access, head to the left side of the map. Look out for the corals you can now pass through. Behind those corals lies your path into The Crows. This section is set westward, with the Visages and the Isle of the Eyes nearby as map references.
Recognise the Area’s Layout
The entire map consists of one connected space. No branches, no separate zones; everything you need lies within this limited boundary. While the scale may seem manageable, completing it demands precision and awareness. What defines this space more than anything else is its puzzle, one that holds the key to a hidden encounter.
Locate and Shoot Every Crow in the Area

Inside The Crows in Clair Obscur Expedition 33, your task is to shoot roughly around 23 glowing crows. These crows do not react or move. They all remain in fixed positions. You will find most of the crows sitting around the Expeditionary Flag. Some of them are also located on a pile of old construction materials near the edge of the map (north) and near the entrance point.
Encounter the Chromatic Chapelier in The Crows

Once the crows have been hit, a brief cutscene plays. This triggers the boss: Chromatic Chapelier. Considered optional but significant, this enemy demands attention. Like other Chromatic enemies, its threat level is high. Strength alone won’t guarantee victory here—you will need a balanced approach. Level adjustments and team readiness play a major role in keeping the fight under control.
Rewards After the Fight
Defeating the Chapelier yields three key items.
- First is Minason, a weapon assigned to Sciel. With a physical power rating of 2809, Minason boosts Vitality (A grade) and Luck (S grade). It offers no bonuses to Might, Agility, or Defense.
- The second item is a Grandiose Chroma Catalyst.
- The third is the rare Colour of Lumina.
Find the Only Pictos in The Crows
One Pictos, Shielding Death, is tied to this area. It becomes available after the Chromatic Chapelier is defeated. Its main trait adds 3 Shield points to allies upon the death of the character holding it. It also provides a significant Defense boost of +801 and Speed increase of +161. No other Pictos can be found here.
Fast Travel and Flag Reference Points
The Expeditionary Flag inside The Crows appears not far from the entrance itself. Just walk forward a little, and the flag becomes visible. This spot also holds a group of crows nearby. Here, you will find another piece of content: Expedition 34’s Journal.
Reading Expedition 34’s Journal

The journal belongs to Corrine, a member of a previous group. It’s positioned next to the Expeditionary Flag. These records reflect the earlier missions that failed to return to Lumiere. Each entry brings context to the decisions and risks taken long before Expedition 33 ever started. These texts fill in the gaps between plot points and gameplay.
The Crows may seem quiet at first glance, but everything within it serves a purpose—no wasted space, no random placements. Your task here is simple to describe but requires effort to complete. Keep track of what you have found, and make sure nothing is left behind.
