Creating an effective build in The First Descendant involves carefully selecting and optimizing various components of your character, including modules, reactor stats, weapons, weapon mods, and skills. Let us walk you through creating the best Sharen Build in the First Descendant with our guide below.
This guide has been updated for Season 1, Hotfix 1.1.0 of the First Descendant.
Best Sharen Build Guide for The First Descendant
Sharen is the stealth assassin character in The First Descendant, specializing in using her camouflage ability to attack from stealth. Activating her camouflage allows her to deal increased damage and resets the cooldown on her camouflage ability, enabling her to strike repeatedly from the shadows. Sharen is loaded with crowd control and stuns. Moreover, she can escape or open combat at will with stealth, making her a unique descendant.
All in all, the general premise behind Sharen’s attacking enemies who aren’t attacking you is to take advantage of her passive. This isn’t always possible solo; thus, she is a weaker character overall due to the weakness of her passive voice. However, you can become invisible with Active Camouflage and take advantage of your passive. This isn’t as reliable as other characters, and you must be within melee range. However, she is one of the coolest looking and interesting kits in the First Descendant and makes an excellent burst character for those who love stealth.

Sharen’s Exclusive Equipment
Sharen’s exclusive equipment is her Arche Drive Full-Body Prosthetic Colon:00, which is a full body prosthesis given to the player as soon as she is unlocked. You can access it by clicking details in the Descendant menu and customizing the appearance of her suit. Below are the details on Sharen’s Exclusive Equipment:
“From the planning stage, this experimental full-body prosthetic technology was controversial. The Arche Drive was originally designed to replace lost body parts, so the idea of attaching it to the entire body raised ethical concerns about prolonging the suffering of the wounded, who were effectively dead, to utilize them as weapons of war. But for Sharen, this was a minor concern. Rather, she was constantly demanding physically taxing heavy weapons, new technologies and firmware upgrades, controlling her body prosthetic with only her Arche and sheer willpower.”
Skills
The general premise behind a Sharen build is using Active Camouflage to trigger Ambush Mode, which increases damage and attacks the enemy, not you. While Ambush is Active and you kill an enemy, you lower the cooldown for Active Camouflage and can repeat the process. Sharen will play primarily in the melee range overall to use her skills, and you’ll want to set up melee kills with camo or stuns. Therefore, you can close the gap without excessive damage, and burst down single targets. Sharen’s ultimate is her main AOE damage source and should be used when cleaning out mobs. Below is a list of Sharen’s skills and how to use them with the best build guide for the First Descendant:
- Cutoff Beam – Attacks enemy with electric blade to deal damage and inflict them with Electrocute effect.
- Active Camouflage – Hides from enemies. When attacking or using skills, Active Camouflage state ends immediately, regardless of time remaining. When Active Camouflage state ends, Sharen enters Ambush mode, increasing damage of the next attack.
- Impact Rounds – Launches built-in explosives forward from the arm to stun enemies.
- Flash Shortsword – Targets enemies within aiming range, and throws multiple knives to attack them. Knives explode to inflict enemies with damage and Electrocute effect.
- Assassinator (Passive) – Damage increases when attacking enemy that is not attacking Sharen. Killing enemies with a skill in Ambush state resets cooldown for Active Camouflage.
Best Skill for Sharen
Active Camouflage is Sharen’s best ability because it provides survivability and massive burst damage buffs. Once you activate Active Camouflage you have a base 4-second invisibility where targets can’t detect you. Once activated, close the distance to your targeted enemy, then come out of stealth by attacking them for an additional damage buff. Also, you want to ensure you are focusing on high-health targets while buffed to help eliminate them fast.
When you exit Active Camouflage, you gain the Ambush buff which boosts your outgoing damage by 70%. Make sure you are ready to burst as soon as you leave invisibly by ensuring weapons are reloaded or skills are off cooldown. If using this in non-bossing content, you can kill a low-health enemy while Ambush is active to instantly refresh the cooldown of Active Camouflage.
Even though Active Camouflage is not a damaging skill, reactor additional perks can help its usage. Ensuring your Reactor has Skill Cooldown and Skill Duration Up bonuses can give us the highest uptime of invisibility and the damage boost afterward.
Similar to our reactor, we are going to prioritize decreasing cooldowns and increasing durations with our modules to give us the maximum stealth and ambush damage boost time. Also, with the Overcharged Edge Transcendent mod, we gain an increased outgoing DMG boost and extra damage boost off of lost shields. This allows our burst damage output to scale even higher than normal.
Cutoff Beam
Cutoff Beam Features in The First Descendant:
- Description: Attacks enemies with an electric blade to deal damage and inflict them with an Electrocute effect.
- Descendant Attribute: Electric
- Cooldown: 7 seconds
- MP Cost: 27
- Damage: Skill Power x 769.4%
- Damage Range: 4.4m x 6.0m
- Max Expandable Range: 150%
Electrocution Values
- Continuous Damage: Skill Power x 109.9%
- Continuous Damage Interval: 1 second
- Duration: 3 seconds
How to Use Cutoff Beam: cutoff beam is your low cooldown melee damage ability that applies a DOT. The radius is 4.4 meters by 6 meters, so it acts as a small cone in front of you, capable of hitting multiple enemies. The electric status effect is helpful due to weapons, mods, and reactors that amplify damage. Therefore, use this ability frequently in melee range not only for damage, but DoT pressure ramping up your single target pressure.
Active Camouflage
Active Camouflage Features in The First Descendant:
- Description: Hides from enemies. When attacking or using skills, the Active Camouflage state ends immediately, regardless of the time remaining. When the Active Camouflage state ends, Sharen enters Ambush mode, increasing the damage of the next attack.
- Descendant Attribute: Electric – Dimension
- Cooldown: 20 seconds
- MP Cost: 30
- Duration: 4 seconds
- Ambush Outgoing DPS Increase: 70%
How to Use Active Camouflage: your main utility skill triggers 70% extra damage when in an ambush state. Therefore, you want to activate camouflage, attack to trigger ambush, and then unload on a high-damage skill or weapon while ambush is active (burst shotgun, single target heavy). If you kill an enemy in Ambush, you lower the cooldown of Active Camouflage, thus allowing you to repeat the process over and over, depending on cooldown mods.
Additionally, you can “pre-cloak” for up to 4 seconds, so get the timing down where you cloak, close the gap, attack, and unload for a kill. Thus, items and weapons that have low magazines but high burst potential (shotguns) are helpful to make the most out of that outgoing DPS increase during an ambush state.
Impact Rounds
Impact Rounds Features in The First Descendant:
- Description: Launches built-in explosives forward from the arm to stun enemies.
- Descendant Attribute: Electric – Dimension
- Fires Impact Rounds forward from Sharen’s arm
- Cooldown: 15 seconds
- MP Cost: 20
- Effect Range: Radius 3 meters
- Max Expandable Range: 200%
- Stun Duration: 4.5 seconds
How to Use Impact Rounds: use Impact Rounds to crowd control enemies with a stunning effect. You want to use this as you close the gap into multiple enemies to avoid damage when the camouflage is on cooldown. You can also use Impact Rounds as an escape tool when taking too much pressure and needing to flee. Moreover, multiple weapons trigger additional effects if a target is stunned, so carefully choose bonuses and keep this in your rotation to make melee damage easier.
Flash Shortsword
Flash Shortsword Features in The First Descendant:
- Description: Targets enemies within aiming range, and throws multiple knives to attack them. Knives explode to inflict enemies with damage and Electrocute effect.
- Descendant Attribute: Electric – Fusion
- Cooldown: 60 seconds
- MP Cost: 38 seconds
- Enemies with Max Lock-on: x10 Monsters
- Max daggers towards one enemy: x3
- Damage: Skill Power x 209.5%
- Damage Range: Radius 2.5m
- Max Expandable Range: 200%
Electrocution Values
- Continuous Damage Skill Power: x 29.9%
- Continuous Damage Interval: 1 second
- Duration: 3 seconds
How to Use Flash Shortsword: this is your overall best damage with a large cooldown and is meant to be used in AOE situations or boss fights. You can lock on to 10 enemies, dealing damage at range and rebuffing with electrocution. The electrocution status effect deals damage over time, adding even more killing potential to his ability.
There is a cap on the number of daggers thrown at one enemy of three, so your goal is to throw all the daggers possible and do the most damage possible. With a massive cooldown, you want to save Flash Shortsword for three or more enemies, if possible, or a boss battle where you need DoT and burst pressure. You can also set up this skill with active camouflage, attack, trigger ambush, and then activate.
Assassinator (Passive)
Assassinator Features in The First Descendant:
- Description: Damage increases when attacking an enemy that is not attacking Sharen. Killing enemies with skill in the Ambush state resets the cooldown for Active Camouflage.
- Descendant Attribute: Electric
- Cooldown: 45 seconds
- Damage increase when attacking non-targeted enemies: 8%
How to Use Assassinator: this passive incentivizes you to attack enemies not attacking you. However, this isn’t always possible in solo gameplay, and it rewards you for using active camouflage to close the gap without being noticed. Secondly, Assassinator rewards you for killing an enemy after exiting Active Camoflauge, and if timed properly, you can combine the two and use the skill more frequently.
How to play Sharen in The First Descendant
Sharen is an assassin character in The First Descendant who uses her camouflage skills to move invisibly across the battlefield and deliver devastating burst damage from stealth. Her invisibility grants her high mobility and protection from targeted enemy attacks. Additionally, she can debuff enemies with a stun and inflict Electrocution damage over time.
Gameplay Loop: Sharen’s gameplay revolves around cycling between Active Camouflage for invisibility, triggering Ambush State from stealth, and then using another skill to reset Camouflage’s cooldown. Basic attacks are also crucial, with the first dealing electric DoT and the other inflicting a stun on enemies.
Area Damage and Single-Target Damage: Sharen excels at single-target burst damage. However, her only area-of-effect damage comes from her ultimate ability, which isn’t triggered frequently. With this in mind, prioritize dealing damage from stealth and maximizing her electric DoT.
Movement and Speed: Sharen is highly mobile and can move easily around the battlefield, thanks to her invisibility. While she lacks speed-boosting abilities, this isn’t necessary since her stealth prevents enemies from targeting her.
Bosses and Ultimates: Sharen’s burst damage is very effective against bosses. However, her ultimate ability (flash shortsword), which combines AOE and DoT should be used sparingly due to its longer cooldown.
Defenses and Survival Tips: Sharen’s survivability relies on her ability to go invisible. Use Active Camouflage to deal damage from stealth and to escape tricky situations when needed. Her stealth allows her to reposition and avoid damage, making her a high-risk, high-reward character.

Best Reactor Stats for Sharen in The First Descendant
The best reactor for a Sharen build is a Tingling Mixture as it gives a boost in Fusion and Electric which aids your damage skills. Moreover, you do not want a Tingling Phase reactor as it boosts non-damaging skills. Prioritize reactors with Skill Cooldown and Fusion/Electric Skill Power Boost Ratio.
- Optimization Condition: Sniper (Piercing Light)
- Skill Power Boost Ratio: Electric and Fusion
- Bonus Conditions: Skill Cooldown and Fusion/Electric Skill Power Boost Ratio
In The First Descendant, reactors are powerful enhancements significantly impacting a character’s abilities, stats, and overall performance. Each reactor comes with an “optimal condition,” which requires a specific weapon type to be equipped to activate. Therefore, this should be your primary weapon for the build. They function as core components that provide substantial boosts and unique effects, enabling players to tailor their characters to specific playstyles and strategies.
Weapons for Sharen Build
Piercing Light and Thunder Cage are the best weapons for a Sharen build guide in the First Descendant. Thunder Cage covers up Sharen’s weakness and AOE damage and synergizes well with Sharen’s electric skills. Additionally, the Piercing Light allows Sharen to deal out massive single-target damage with a single shot.
The following list presents the best weapon choices for Sharen Build:
- Piercing Light – Sniper Rifle
- Thunder Cage – Submachine Gun
Piercing Light
Piercing Light Sniper Rifle features in the First Descendant:
- Firearm ATK: 404
- Fire Rate: 48
- Reload Speed: 2.6 seconds
- Purification of Light: On hitting a Weak Point, inflicts Dispel on the enemy with a set chance. When two or more enemies are hit by a single shot, there is a high chance to land a Critical Hit on the enemies while also increasing Critical Hit Damage and applying this buff to the attack.
The Piercing Light deals massive damage to weak points and provides a nice buff to our Firearm Critical Hit Rate and Firearm Critical Hit Damage. This complements Sharen’s strengths by allowing us to line up weak point shots while in stealth to ensure we get the maximum utility out of our damaging weapon. Below are the best weapon mods for the Peircing Light Sniper Rifle:
- Rifling Reinforcement – Significantly improves your Firearm Attack
- Action and Reaction – Improves Firearm Attack and Recoil
- Weak Point Sight – Greatly improves Weak Point Damage
- Concentration Priority – Greatly Increases Firearm Critical Hit Damage at the Cost of Increased Reload
- Better Insight – Greatly improved Firearm Critical Hit Rate
- Better Concentration – Greatly improved Firearm Critical Hit Damage
Thunder Cage
Thunder Cage Submachine Gun features in the First Descendant:
- Firearm ATK: 18
- Fire Rate: 666
- Reload Speed: 1.4 seconds
- Effective Range: 23 meter
- Overcharge: defeating an enemy prompts that enemy to unleash an electric shockwave, dealing firearm ATK to nearby enemies within 3 meters, with additional damage.
The Thunder Cage Submachine emits an electric shockwave and grants a bonus to damage after a kill. This compliments Sharen’s weakness, which is AOE damage, allowing for AOE damage potential coming out of stealth. Below are the best weapon mods for the Thunder Cage Submachine Gun:
- Hawkeye – Improves your Accuracy
- Reload Concentration – Reloading is quicker, and Firearm Critical Damage is improved
- Rifling Reinforcement – Significantly improves your Firearm Attack
- Concentrate Support Ammo – You get more rounds per magazine and slightly more Firearm Critical Hit Damage
- Electric Conductor – Improved Firearm Attack when attacking Electrocuted enemies
- Action and Reaction – Improves Firearm Attack and Recoil
- Marksman – Improves Firearm Critical Hit Rate and slightly improves Attack
- Weak Point Control – Improves Weak Point Damage and Recoil
- Weak Point Sight – Greatly improves Weak Point Damage
- Fire Rate Up – Significantly improves your Fire Rate

The Veteran Marksman Auxiliary Power is the best external component for Sharen. The two-piece Veteran Marksman Auxiliary Power gives a +5.1% Firearm Critical Hit Rate. Finally, the full four-piece set provides an additional +6.6% Firearm ATK and +5.8% Weak Point Damage. This boosts our sniper’s damage and allows our burst even more damage potential. Regarding overall stats, prioritize Max HP, DEF, and elemental resistance like Toxic, Chill, Fire, or Electric Resistance. Below is a list and chart of the best stats for your External Component Parts

Recent Updates and Changes for Sharen Build
The biggest change and update to Sharen during Season One is the addition of Invasions and Inversion Reinforcement. Sharen does great in Invasions as her stealth allows her to do puzzles without having to deal with minor combatants. Players are rewarded for completion time and materials used for the newest Descendant Hailey. What you should know is to work towards unlocking the Inversion and completing Invasions to progress this new piece of equipment.
Sharen’s Story in the First Descendant
Sharen, Colon Special Forces Agent No. 0 and unit commander, possessed such extraordinary skill that she was considered the strongest among non-Descendant fighters. Her stealth tracking ability was nearly perfect, and her melee battle skills were so deadly that she has killed more Vulgus than even the heavily-armed Descendants. It was often said that should she possess Arche, she would be able to assassinate Karel… However, Sharen herself did not welcome this reputation. The reason being that the Vulgus assassination unit, which Sharen and the Colon Special Forces had been chasing, had slayed more Albion troops than the Vulgus Sharen had killed, all before vanishing into the shadows.
Eventually, in order to prevent the gradually increasing allied casualties, Sharen decided to track down the deadly cyborg Vulgus. The operation’s mission was to determine the location of the mark and call in a Descendant strike force. But Sharen had no intention of handing the final blow to this assassination unit to anyone else. Around this time, Sharen’s battle skills were at their peak, and according to the observation of the agents who deployed with her, some of her movements were displaying an electrical phenomenon which seemingly appears to be an Arche ability. Nobody doubted her inevitable victory.
However, the operation ended in failure.
Sharen’s Story Continued
Sharen, who awoke in an Albion operating room, could not believe her eyes. Her limbs were nowhere to be found, and she was writhing in agony in the middle of hospital room, with just a bloody torso. According to the operation report, the Vulgus assassination unit had ambushed the Colon Special Forces in a display of skill far superior to Sharen’s. Trying to save her soldiers, Sharen suffers fatal injuries, losing consciousness. Luckily, she was rescued by No. 17, an agent who had been deployed as backup. Although they had managed to successfully retreat to Albion, Sharen was at death’s door. Her only chance for survival was to transplant her major organs into a newly developed Arche Drive body prosthetic and pray she possessed Arche.
Sharen could not allow herself to die just yet. She had to eliminate the cyborg who brought about this chain of events. Even if she had to live every moment with the feeling of pain-like blades cutting through her body, she would pay the enemy back with many more blades than that.
As her consciousness started to slip away, Sharen focused and projected her will. With this, her body started to slowly… and cautiously… replace itself with artificial muscles, synthetic fibers, and an obsidian Kuiper frame.
