Everything about Fireheart in Baldur’s Gate 3
In Baldur’s Gate 3, Fireheart is an accessory piece that any class or companion can use to gain the Heat condition. Multiple items in BG3 can help your character stack Heat. This condition will cause them 1d4 Fire damage each turn but also grants them access to the Heat Convergence passive feature.
When you trigger Heat Convergence before casting a Fire spell, it consumes your stacks of Heat and grants you an additional 1 Fire damage for every turn of Heat remaining. Moreover, you can toggle Heat Convergence exactly when you want to use it, so that you aren’t accidentally spending your stacks of Heat before you mean to.

How to Get Fireheart in BG3
To get the Fireheart accessory in Baldur’s Gate 3 you need to make your way to Reithwin Town during Act 2 and find a locked Heavy Chest containing the necklace on the second floor of the Tollhouse. However, you cannot get into this walled-off space by reaching the second floor in a normal way. To reach the Heavy Chest containing Fireheart you must stay on the ground floor, and stand just outside of the west end of the Tollhouse.
Next, zoom the camera all the way out and you should see a ledge on the second floor that you can jump to. Use a high Strength character like Lae’zel to reach this ledge.
Inside this small room you will see a large Heavy Chest. This chest will be locked and it’s unlikely that a high Strength character will have much luck opening it. Simply pick up the chest and put it in the character’s inventory. Then, jump back down to your group. Take the chest out of your inventory and place it on the ground.
Finally, you can have a character with a high Sleight of Hand skill like Astarion pick the lock on the chest. This requires passing a 14 DC Sleight of Hand check. After you break it open, the Fireheart necklace will be inside.
How to Use the Fireheart in BG3?
The best way to use the Fireheart accessory in Baldur’s Gate 3 is by finding and equipping other gear pieces that can also grant you stacks of the Head condition. The more stacks of Heat you can build, then the more powerful the hit when you trigger the Heat Convergence feature.
Other gear items that generate Heat in Baldur’s Gate 3 are:
- Cinder Shoes: Whenever you Burn an enemy, you gain 2 turns of Heat.
- Thermoarcanic Gloves: Whenever you deal Fire damage, you gain 2 turns of Heat.
- Ring of Self Immolation: Once per short rest you may set yourself on fire as a Bonus Action to gain Heat for 2 turns.
- Thermodynamo Axe: Whenever you deal damage with this weapon, you gain 2 turns of Heat.
- Hellfire Greataxe: Whenever you deal damage with this weapon, you gain 2 turns of Heat.
In the early game of BG3, the easiest way to deal Fire damage is via certain spells. Fire Bolt is a simple cantrip that many classes will have access to. Scorching Ray is another good spell. However, be aware that if you trigger the Heat Convergence for extra damage with this spell, the additional Fire damage will only apply to the first hit. On the other hand, if you use Heat Convergence on a cast of Fireball, the extra damage will trigger on hits to all enemies within the area-of-effect.

FAQs about Fireheart in Baldur’s Gate 3
Q1: Is Fireheart a good accessory in BG3?
Answer: Fireheart is a good accessory in Baldur’s Gate 3 only if you can collect and equip other Heat-based items so that you can more easily build stacks of Heat. With Fireheart you only get a stack of Heat when you are hit by fire. While fire is a common damage type in BG3, it likely won’t build enough stacks for you on its own.
Q2: What is the maximum stack of Heat you can build in BG3?
Answer: There is no limit to the stacks of Heat you can build in Baldur’s Gate 3. However, the Heat condition only has a duration of 7 turns. Therefore, after seven turns of combat your stacks will start to drop off. Therefore, it’s better to keep track of how many turns it has been and trigger Heat Convergence before the Heat stacks start to drop.
