The Bad Brother is a main quest in Assassin’s Creed Shadows that can be completed by both Naoe and Yasuke. It is part of the Onryo storyline and has you gather more information about a member of the Shinbakufu on the road to assassinating The Fool. This mission does not involve any combat and requires you to speak with Ise Sadatame, whose brother has betrayed him in favor of Mitsuhide. You can complete the mission by locating Byodoin Temple and talking to Ise Sadatame.

Where Can You Find Ise Sadatame in Assassin’s Creed Shadows?

The mission tells you that Ise Sadatame is:

  • In Yamashiro
  • In northern Ogura Pond
  • At Byodoin Temple

You can find the Ogura Pond area northeast of Izumi Settsu. The Byodoin Temple is located on the northern tip of Ogura Pond. You can use a scout to uncover the exact location, but it should not be necessary. Once at the Byodoin Temple, you will find Ise Sadatame sitting outside a shrine.

The ailing lord invites you inside and reveals that Ise Sadoki, Mitsuhide’s son-in-law, is his brother. Sadoki poisoned Sadatame and took control of their clan, pledging his loyalty to Mitsuhide. Sadatame asks if you support Mitsuhide. You can reply with:

  • I do not support Mitsuhide (Naoe)
  • I serve Lord Nobunaga (Yasuke)

The responses you choose during your conversation with Ise Sadatame do not affect the outcome of the mission or story. Convinced of your mutual enmity toward Mitsuhide, Sadatame continues, revealing that he sent letters to his brother, beseeching him to break ties with Mitsuhide. However, the messenger who was returning with Sadoki’s reply was ambushed. Sadatame requests that you find the letters, promising his support if you confront Sadoki at Yamazaki Castle.

Sadatame also reveals that he has a hidden ally in the castle guard, a samurai named Ujimasa whose knowledge of the castle’s layout can be invaluable. You will then have to choose either Naoe or Yasuke to retrieve the letter in the following story mission: Missing Missive. Whom you choose will not affect the mission or the narrative. Once you have made your choice, The Bad Brother quest is completed, and you are rewarded 1,000 XP.
