While the Sniper Elite games are not crushingly difficult, they do very little in terms of player hand-holding. The same is the case with the latest game in the series, Sniper Elite Resistance, which throws you into the shoes of Harry Hawker.

As Hawker, you’re dropped into various heavily guarded and massive sandbox levels. After that, you’re given targets to kill and objectives to accomplish. Your means of accomplishing these objectives are completely up to you, a notion that can be very intimidating as a beginner just starting out.

With the areas so heavily guarded, any mistake made may seem like a death sentence. The game feels that way when starting out—you get used to it with progress. Below, we’ve listed some of the best beginner tips that can help ease your first few hours in Sniper Elite Resistance.

1) Feel Free To Lower the Difficulty

Sniper Elite Resistance gives you several accessibility options that let you mold your experience in the game. The game has an overall difficulty setting, which defines your experience as a whole, ranging from the Civilian difficulty setting to Authentic. You can also adjust the difficulties of individual parameters such as Combat, Sniping, and Tactical. If that’s not enough, you can dive deeper into the Advanced Difficulty Customization to alter aspects such as Health Regeneration, Enemy Resilience, and much more.

2) Survey the Levels

The very first mission of Sniper Elite Resistance starts with Harry Hawker on a watchtower, surveying the dam ahead. This is the game’s way of emphasizing the importance of surveying the levels. Use your binoculars to scout the areas, tagging enemies and vehicles along the way. Doing so will also give you a sense of the map layout, allowing you to plan your approach better. The maps all have high vantage points that you can use for this purpose, so we recommend making it a habit.

3) Save Regularly

As you sneak around heavily guarded bases and checkpoints, one misstep can result in an all-out brawl. Therefore, it is crucial to save as often as you can. Saving often will put you at ease, letting you experiment with and understand the intricacies of the map and enemies better. If your experiment fails, you always have the safety net of returning to your last save. This makes the game more enjoyable and will help you understand the mechanics quickly.

4) Mask Your Shots

The maps of Sniper Elite Resistance are massive, but more so, they are lived in. There is a constant barrage of activities in your surroundings. These include planes soaring nearby, generators malfunctioning, bombs exploding, church bells ringing, and much more, all of which make noise. Use this noise to your advantage, and mask your shots to prevent alerting the enemies. Be patient, wait for the loud sound, and take your shot, Sniper.

5) Invest Into the Skill Tree

Sniper Elite Resistance offers an expansive skill tree, all of which customize your gameplay experience. There are three sets of skills to choose from: Combat, Body, and Equipment. Combat skills tie into your moment-to-moment combat experience, while the Body skill is directly linked to Harry Hawker and his body traits such as health and focus. The Equipment skills are linked to your loadout, offering greater flexibility before heading out for a mission.
