Eagle Vision, the franchise’s hallmark, returned in Assassin’s Creed Shadows. Players were first introduced to this feature in the latest game during Naoe’s playthrough. This happened during the Katano Castle mission when she killed the Onryo Samurai and took what was hers. It is a pretty useful feature when used in stealth situations because it essentially lets players look past obstacles at a significant distance and mark the highlighted enemies. Doing so allows for a much smoother stealth. But what about Yasuke? Can he activate Eagle Vision?

Yasuke’s Eagle Vision in AC Shadows

The game introduces Yasuke as an “outsider” in feudal Japan. Despite looking different from the people in the Land of the Rising Sun, Oda Nobunaga accepts Yasuke as his own and gives him a more honorable life. Throughout his journey in the game, he shows change and growth, particularly regarding ideas of “freedom”. This idea is much associated with the Assassin’s Brotherhood around the globe. Irrespective of his beliefs, Yasuke is not a born assassin, meaning he doesn’t possess these gifts.

Nobunaga’s favored warrior is not an “assassin” and does not have “Eagle Vision”. So, even if you hold the right thumb stick on a console or press the V key on PC to toggle this ability, it won’t be triggered if you are playing as Yasuke. This suggests that only Naoe has the gift of her ancestors. Until now, all protagonists in the series have had Eagle Vision in one form or the other. Since Yasuke doesn’t have one, it suggests that the ability is exclusive to a lineage of people and isn’t a random game mechanic introduced to make things easier.

The good part is that Yasuke doesn’t need Eagle Vision because he can kill all the enemies in sight. If you are concerned about locating your targets, though, you can always switch to Observation. This Observation mode comes up when players are holding the aim button on the console or PC. The Blue Orb is the person or point of interest (and it is likely your current objective). It works the same way for both Naoe and Yasuke. You don’t need Eagle Vision to find your objective.
