Assassin’s Creed Shadows is a game based in feudal Japan during the late 16th century. The map is big, and there is a lot to explore. However, most places are going to be filled with soldiers who want to kill you on the spot. Due to this and some other reasons, hiding becomes the most common thing you’ll be doing when infiltrating a restricted area. Bushes are the most common places to hide in an Assassin’s Creed game, but now players can also hide underwater.
However, hiding underwater is a very difficult task, and you might lose your breath while trying to avoid enemies. To solve this, the game has a feature that lets you breathe under shallow water.
In this guide, we will explain how to breathe while underwater in Assassin’s Creed Shadows.
How To Breathe Underwater in Assassin’s Creed Shadows
The feat cannot be achieved by crafting some equipment but by leveling up your skill tree. You have to unlock the Shallow Water Breathing skill, which is available in Naoe’s shinobi skill tree. It requires 1 mastery point and is located on the bottom right side of the skill tree. Remember that this lets you breathe in shallow water.

Here comes the fun part: how to activate this skill? You do not have to press any key. Just find shallow water around you and prone. Naoe will automatically start using a reed to breathe while underwater.

Additionally, you can also get an achievement with this skill, Reeding is Fundamental. For this achievement, you must escape conflict while hiding in shallow water and use the Shallow Water Breathing skill alongside.
