The Winds of War is a Legendary kusarigama that you can equip with Naoe in Assassin’s Creed Shadows. You can acquire this rare weapon by making progress in the Darkness Falls main story mission.

The Engrave effect of this weapon sounds powerful on paper. However, due to the combat mechanics, the effect of being able to break armor through posture attacks is less viable. You are better off breaking enemy armor through other means. Nonetheless, it’s a decent weapon to get, especially if you plan to collect all the available weapons in the game.

How to Obtain Winds of War Kusarigama in Assassin’s Creed Shadows

To unlock the Winds of War kusarigama, you need to go through the Yamato main story mission. Once you reach the Darkness Falls mission, you need to assassinate Joken Hokkyo, also known as “The Wise.” After killing your target, you will receive the Winds of War kusarigama as a quest reward. 

The mission can be a bit long. Fortunately, you can’t miss this weapon as it is tied to the story quest. This means you’ll simply have to go through the mission to get this Legendary weapon.

How to Use Winds of War Kusarigama in Assassin’s Creed Shadows

The Winds of War kusarigama requires you to inflict Daze on enemies. Fortunately, Naoe has an ability on her skill tree that can help build up Daze on targets. Make sure you unlock Hard Fall and Dazed to help activate the effect of Winds of War. If you are using this weapon, these two abilities are mandatory.

While the effect is nice, there are simpler and more effective ways to break an enemy’s armor. You can just hit them with charged attacks and perform counters to break their armor. This means needing to deal Daze first just to break an armor, which amounts to a longer and tougher process. In actual play, the perk is rarely noticeable, and there are many better options available.
