Regardless of whether you are a beginner or looking for the strongest possible setup, we present the best 10 Enshrouded builds for Patch 4.
Enshrouded build crafting can be a complex series of factors. All those ingredients, such as gear, skills, attributes, and playstyle, contribute to a character’s effectiveness. It also involves survival elements, crafting, and overall progression in the game that will help you craft your perfect character. The following best Builds list will help you pick your preferred playstyle by explaining the weaknesses and strengths of the best possible setups in Enshrouded.
Updated: Enshrouded’s first massive update is Patch #4 v.0.7.4.0. This patch increased the level cap to 35, added new skills and near gear, and made the grappling hook a combat ability. The Ranger remains the strongest build due to it’s range and defeating the final boss on Hallowing Peak.
During Early Access, Keen Games Studio often introduces new updates and adjustments to skills and gameplay mechanics to prepare Enshrouded for full release. To see Patch #4 changes, scroll to the bottom of the post.
What are the Best 10 Builds for Enshrouded in Patch 4?
Ranger, Wizard, and Barbarian are the best Builds in Enshrouded Patch 4. Ranger was buffed substantially in Patch 4, giving them multiple new skills, arrows, and more area-based damage capabilities. This is now the best build for damage and survivability, as Staff damage was reduced by 50%. Moreover, the Ranger was the best for beating a new fell dragon boss which requires almost 100% range damage (stun arrows). The Wizard is the second choice for a range spellcasting damage dealer with wands and staffs. Lastly, Barbarian moves up due to improvements to multiple skills in Warrior and Jump Attack.
Ranger and the can produce extremely high AoE and single-target damage. Thanks to various staff charges and types of arrows, you can efficiently take down powerful bosses and whole groups of enemies. Keen Games nerfed the “stacking” of Water Aura (self/group healing), allowing for group healing or multiple sources of healing. Without this, both the Battlemage and Healer fall on our list. Additionally, introducing Dual Daggers gives Sneak Attack and melee dexterity builds a drastic improvement and should start to see adjustments on our list.
The 10 best builds based on each skill tree (class) for Enshrouded Patch 4:
- Ranger: Incredible arrows and skills.
- Wizard: AoE damage without crafting arrows.
- Barbarian: Good balance between aggression and health with significant damage.
- Assassin: With sneak and stealth, delivers high bursts of damage, but playstyle can be challenging.
- Battlemage: High damage and Survivability.
- Tank: Extreme survivability and group support capabilities.
- Healer: Exels in High Intelligence, healing per second, and good damage.
- Warrior: Double jump for mobility and versatile melee weapon choice but lacks range damage.
- Beastmaster: Attract animals and NPCs to fight alongside you.
- Athlete: High mobility, lacks damage.
10 Athlete
Below are Athlete features in Enshrouded:
- Primary Attribute: Dexterity
- Secondary Attribute: Strength
- Primary Weapon: Mace and Shield
- Ranged Weapon: Bow with Exploding Arrow
- Best Armor: Hawk
- Best Skills: Jump Attack, Evasion Attack, Blink, Shell Shocked
- Best Consumable: Stir-Fried Vegetables, Meat Wrap, Open Sandwich, Fruit Bowl
The athlete’s build and skill line primarily focus on movement. You will have increased mobility while dodging, sprinting, climbing, and gliding. You will have a variety of weapon combinations, in melee and at range. This build is ideal for players focusing on mobility and high-flying action.
Pros: The Athlete build brings limited benefits but can be modified as a solid foundation. When built for mobility, it provides the ability to dance around enemies. As a result, you can mix it with the Ranger or Barbarian skill tree for the best results.
Cons: Relying solely on Athlete mobility lacks the damage needed at higher levels to take down targets efficiently. If you want a competitive build, you must upgrade or modify it with skills from other trees. Without high health and magic damage, players may find the need to respec at the end game and challenging fights.
The issue with Athlete is you can gain all the benefits from the skill line without a full investment into the skill tree. Thus, it’s the weakest of the 10 builds in Enshrouded.
9 Beastmaster
Below are Beastmaster features in Enshrouded:
- Primary Attribute: Dexterity
- Secondary Attribute: Endurance
- Primary Weapon: Bow Ranged
- Secondary Weapon: One-hand and Wand
- Best Armor: Hawk Eye
- Best Skills: Vukah Language, Beast Master, Shell Shock, Ranger
- Best Consumable: Stir-Fried Vegetables, Meat Wrap, Fruit Bowl, Spiced Soup
The Beastmaster build in Enshrouded for Patch 4 stands out for its exceptional ranged combat damage, mobility, and stamina regeneration. While using a bow, you can summon companion animals that will add great damage.
Pros: The Beastmaster’s significant advantage lies in attracting animals and NPCs to fight alongside you. Practical in specific situations, it adds a unique dynamic to encounters. At higher levels, having creatures fight for you can prove helpful.
Cons: The Beastmaster’s effectiveness falls short compared to high-damage spells. It would be much more effective if players could summon “on-demand” pet features. Otherwise, searching for animal allies limits its practicality.
Without on-demand pets, your bonuses are limited to gaining additional endurance. Thus, this skill line and build don’t offer nearly the same level of combat proficiency and utility as others.
8 Warrior
Below are Warrior features in Enshrouded:
- Primary Attribute: Strength
- Secondary Attribute: Constitution
- Primary Weapon: One-hand and Shield
- Secondary Weapon: Two-handed mace
- Best Armor: Soldier
- Best Skills: Veteran, Swift Attack, Battle Heal, Ranger
- Best Consumable: Meat Wrap, Open Sandwich, Fruit Bowl
Enshrouded’s Warrior build mixes a martial weapon damage and versatility with one hand and shield, two-handed weapons, or a ranged bow for a flexible approach to combat. The Warrior skill tree received multiple changes and adjustments, including a new skill opportunity that boosted Merciless Strike damage.
Pros: The Warrior, while a weaker version of the Barbarian, focuses on double jump and aggression. It allows customization for a specific weapon type focus.
Cons: Skills in the Warrior tree don’t significantly increase damage, and power is shared across different weapon types. It lacks the range and damage output of magic builds, making it less impactful in group or solo play.
The main issue with the Warrior skill line and skill tree is reliance on Merciless Strike (overpowered). This mechanic isn’t fully fleshed out yet, but has potential. Most builds that use weapons can gain all the perks of the Warrior tree without a heavy investment.
7 Healer
Below are Healer features in Enshrouded:
- Primary Attribute: Intelligence
- Secondary Attribute: Constitution
- Primary Weapon: Wand and Shield
- Secondary Weapon: Staff with Chain Heal charge
- Best Armor: Sage
- Best Skills: Water Aura, Bloodletting, Life Burst, and Good Metabolism.
- Best Consumable: Glow Soup Spice, Meat Wrap, Boiled Eggs
The Healer build-in Enshrouded during Patch 4 prioritizes self and group healing through passive and active spells. The most notable spell is the Water Aura, which provides passive healing. Secondly, the healer has a high intelligence attribute for remarkable healing and damage.
Pros: Think of the Healer as a lighter version of the Wizard or Battlemage, offering good damage and excellent healing. It is ideal for multiplayer gameplay with a focus on resurrecting allies. The Healer maintains damage, survivability, and fun as a magic caster.
Cons: Primarily designed for multiplayer, the Healer is less effective when played solo. Limited gear selection emphasizes resurrecting, which may not align with the player’s healing focus.
Healer isn’t higher on the list because Water Aura will no longer stack and is now considered a buff. Therefore, you can’t have multiple sources stacking healing and never dying. The change was needed, but you can gain more utility with a Tank vs. a healer in the current patch.
6 Tank
Below are Tank features in Enshrouded:
- Primary Attribute: Constitution
- Secondary Attribute: Strength
- Primary Weapon: Sword and Shield
- Secondary Weapon: Wand and Shield
- Ranged Weapon: Staff with Acid Bite Charge
- Best Armor: Warden
- Best Skills: Earth Aura, Battle Heal, Life Burst, Blink
- Best Consumables: Meat Wrap, Open Sandwich, and Fruit Bowl
Enshrouded’s Tank build prioritizes damage reduction, crowd control, and survivability. Some of the most significant playstyle advantages are a massive health pool and a variety of weapons to serve as reliable damage sources
Pros: The Tank combines elements of the Battlemage, Healer, and Barbarian, offering insane survivability and a massive health pool. In multiplayer, the Tank shines by attracting enemies’ attention and serving as a formidable frontline. Effective when paired with a Wizard or Healer.
Cons: The Tank lacks high damage output and struggles in solo play due to limited range for aggro initiation. While it excels in multiplayer, it may not be practical for solo adventures.
The tank is still a strong choice for group content-minded players. The Tank struggles solo, where killing enemies isn’t the overall property. We recommend this build for group players supporting a Ranger or Wizard.
5 Battlemage
Below are Battlemage features in Enshrouded:
- Primary Attribute: Intelligence
- Secondary Attribute: Constitution
- Primary Weapon: Wand with Shield
- Secondary Weapon: Sword with Shield
- Ranged Weapon: Staff with Firebolt Charge
- Best Armor: Warden and Archmage or Warlock
- Best Skills: Water Aura, Wand Master, Blink, and Eath Aura.
- Best Consumable: Glow Soup Spice, Meat Wrap, and Boiled Eggs.
The Battlemage moves substantially down the best builds list in Enshrouded Patch. Staff damage and Water Aura were nerfed, limiting your effectiveness in damage, survivability, and group utility. This build is still the jack-of-all-trades in Enshrouded and is now more balanced for general gameplay.
Pros: The Battlemage stands out with its unique ability to deal damage, tank, and off-heal. Its high survivability, thanks to armor choices and skills reducing incoming damage, makes it forgiving at higher levels. The Acid Bite and Staff combo ensures incredible damage without the risk of missing attacks. The build also allows flexibility to spare skill points for powerful skills like Double Jump and Airborne.
Cons: While the Battlemage excels in various roles, it lacks the Wizard’s mind-numbing damage output. Additionally, it doesn’t fully embrace a tank setup but remains sturdy in a group or solo play.
With both Water Aura and Staff damage, you can no longer get insane damage and healing within one build. Still a strong choice because damage and survivability, but the Battlemage is moved down on our list.
4 Assassin
Below are Assassin features in Enshrouded:
- Primary Attribute: Dexterity
- Secondary Attribute: Strength
- Primary Weapon: Daggers
- Damage Type: Blunt
- Ranged Weapon: Longbow
- Best Arrows: Exploding
- Best Armor: Rogue Set
- Best Skills: Sneak Attack, Battle Heal, Dessert Stomach, and Chain Reaction
- Best Consumable: Stir-Fried, Meat Wrap, Open Sandwich, and Fruit Bowl
In Enshrouded Patch 4, the Assassin playstyle is one of the most versatile builds in this top 10 list because it can successfully utilize melee and ranged weapons. While playing as an Assassin, you will emphasize sneak, opportunity damage, and backstabbing for effective flanking and surprise attacks.
Pros: The Assassin provides versatility by using both melee and bow for significant damage. With a focus on sneak and stealth, the Assassin delivers high bursts of damage. The playstyle revolves around stealth mechanics, adding a fun and different element to gameplay.
Cons: Executing the sneak mechanic can be challenging. Also, the hybrid approach to weapons may limit overall damage compared to specialized builds.
Our build is currently a work in progress due to adding Daggers to Enshrouded. This gives high dexterity and builds a flexible damage offering without relying on Sneak. Solely relying on sneak damage held the Assassin back, but now blend Ranger and Assassin tree for a deadly duel-wielding dagger and bow user.
3 Barbarian
Below are Barbarian features in Enshrouded:
- Primary Attribute: Strength
- Secondary Attribute: Constitution
- Primary Weapon: Mace (one-handed blunt)
- Secondary Weapon: Axe (two-handed cutting)
- Shields: Shield of Light
- Damage Type: Cutting and Blunt
- Best Armor: Solider
- Best Skills: Jump Attack, Barbarian, Blood Rage, Battle Heal
- Best Consumable: Meat Wrap, Boiled Eggs, and Open Sandwich
The Barbarian excels as a melee damage dealer, focusing on strength and constitution, featuring unique skills like double jump damage, critical melee attack healing, and passive damage reduction for an aggressive playstyle. The Barbarian moves up due to added skills and tweaks within the Warrior line and Jump Attack.
Pros: In a meta that favors spellcasters, the Barbarian stands out as a melee damage dealer with a two-handed jump attack setup. Unique skills like battle healing enhance survivability, balancing aggression and health. Simple to play, the Barbarian offers a fun and powerful weapon-based experience.
Cons: While the Barbarian excels in melee combat, it falls short in top-end damage compared to the Wizard. Constant potion use or critical hits are required for survival, making it less forgiving than other builds.
With a massive reduction in staff damage, the Barbarian feels much closer to maximum damage. Moreover, the Water Aura skill was nerfed, giving Battle Heal a leg up in survivability. The major downside of the Barbarin is the melee-only focus. Otherwise, it would be higher on our top 10 best Enshrouded builds for Patch 4.
2 Wizard
Below are Wizard features in Enshrouded:
- Primary Attribute: Intelligence
- Secondary Attribute: Spirit
- Primary Weapon: Wand
- Secondary Weapon: Quarterstaff
- Shield: Magic
- Best Armor: Wizard
- Best Skills: Blink, Water Aura, Radiant Aura, Wizard
- Best Consumable: Prayer of the Flame Scroll, Grilled Game, Roasted Azure Russula
Enshrouded’s Wizard is a high-damage ranged character wielding a staff or wand. Wizards will use elemental charges with the staff for potent damage or healing. The Wizard’s strength lies in fantastic area-based damage with the staff and consistent ranged damage with wands.
Pros: The Wizard tops the charts as the highest damage dealer in the game. Ideal for players seeking a high-skill cap experience with the ability to one-shot enemies. Its simple playstyle involves staying at range, casting spells, and using a wand when enemies draw near. The passive damage in the fell makes it exceptional for power leveling and taking on bosses.
Cons: The Wizard experiences a delay before reaching peak power due to Shroud bonuses, spell charge times, and gear requirements. It demands a high skill level and offers less forgiveness compared to other builds.
While wizards say a 50% damage reduction in staff, the Wand and Staff combination at the range is still deadly. Furthermore, the radius of your damage is huge, giving you a leg up compared to other builds. However, the Ranger with additional arrows, skills, and reworked trees is the best.
1 Ranger
Below are Ranger features in Enshrouded:
- Primary Attribute: Dexterity
- Secondary Attribute: Intelligence
- Primary Weapon: Bow
- Secondary Weapon: Unarmed and Shield
- Best Armor: Eagle Eye
- Best Skills: Multi-Shot, Begone!, Shell Shock, and Chain Reaction
- Best Consumable: Stir-Fried Vegetables
The Ranger is now the best build in Enshroued Patch 4 because of additional skills, new dagger weapons, and arrow reworks. Furthermore, the Ranger’hybrid playstyle blends dexterity and intelligence for speed, damage, and utility. You gain the best of both worlds, magic and weapon damage, making it the strongest out of all builds.
Pros: The Ranger offers a balanced mix of offensive and defensive ranged capabilities with high mobility. Its arrows deliver substantial damage and eventually stun foes. Notable mobility and speed, supported by passives, enhance overall travel efficiency.
Cons: The Ranger takes time to access higher-level arrows and the assassin skill line. Constantly crafting arrows can become tedious, and the build may start slowly.
The Ranger sees a reduction in Explosive Arrow cost, new skills, multi-shot trigger/spread, and Magic Arrow. Combined with a massive reduction in magic users, these adjustments give it the edge in combat, playing at range, huge AOE, and fun factor. Therefore, we recommend the Ranger as the best of 10 builds in the Enshrouded current patch 4.
