How to Get The Ring of Geniality in BG3? Explained
In Baldur’s Gate 3, the Ring of Geniality can be purchased from Barcus Wroot at the Last Light Inn in Act 2 for only 40 gold.
It is possible to miss the chance to obtain the Ring of Geniality because Barcus, the shop owner, can die multiple times in the story before he opens his shop for you. Find and Save Barcus in Grinforge
Find and head to the Grymforge, an underground location accessible from the Underdark in Act 1, where you can find and craft one of the best gear items in Act 1, Adamantine Armour and Weapons. Before you explore the Grymforge, try to save Barcus as soon as you arrive.
To complete the task, you will require a special type of explosive called Runepowder. A slave who fled from the Absolute followers, who pose a threat to Barcus, happens to possess a barrel of this unique substance. You must locate the slave and persuade them to spare some of the Runepowder for you. This will come in handy later on.
To find Philomeen and obtain the Runepowder, head to the southern side of the ruins on the first floor of Grymforge, just across the docks where you arrived. You’ll need to offer your assistance to save Barcus and other imprisoned gnomes being forced to clear the rubble by the duergar led by Nere. Philomeen, a scared gnome woman, will be willing to share the powerful Runepowder with you once you’ve convinced her of your help. This is part of the quests: Rescue the Gnome, Rescue Wulbren, Avenge the Ironhands, and Save the Grymforge Gnomes.
Once you obtain the Runepowder, make your way back to the docks and head into the lava room located to the west at coordinates X: -628 and Y: 317. Offer your assistance in clearing the rubble. Simply throw the Runepowder at the debris and then use a fire spell to detonate it all. Once Nere reveals his true nature, you will need to turn against him and the other duergar. This battle will be challenging, and its difficulty will depend on your level. Utilize crowd-control spells, potions, and scrolls to make the task easier.
Recruit Barcus to Join The Camp
After the fight, invite Barcus to follow your camp. He will wander around your camp, and you can speak with him, but you won’t be able to buy anything from him yet.
Find Barcus at the Last Light Inn and get the Ring of Geniality
Finally, you can find Barcus Wroot in Last Light Inn during Act 2 if you successfully save him twice and convince him to join your camp. He will open his shop, and you can buy or steal the Ring of Geniality from him.
How to Use the Ring of Geniality in BG3?
The best way to use the Ring of Geniality is by equipping it to a class that has Charisma as their primary ability score, such as Bards, Sorcerers, and Warlocks. All of these three classes will already have good dialogue skill, and having this accessory will make it easier to pass higher Persuasion and/or Deception dialogue checks.
