Grognak’s Axe is a unique, two-handed melee weapon that can deal physical and bleeding damage to enemies. Additionally, it can also cause enemies to stagger. Moreover, for such a large and heavy blade, it has a surprisingly low AP cost compared to other similar weapons.

  • Dropped by/Looted From: Taken from an Advanced-locked display case behind the front desk.

In Fallout 4, you can get Grognak’s Axe by visiting Hubris Comics and unlocking the display case inside on the first floor. You can find Hubris Comics just northeast of Trinity Tower. Moreover, when you first visit, expect to face some ghouls before you can take the time to explore the store.

The case holding Grognak’s Axe is just to the left of the front door, behind the customer service desk. It’s sealed shut by an Advanced Lock, so you’ll need the appropriate level of lock-picking skill to get it. The second option is the nearby computer terminal. If you don’t have the Advanced level in Locksmith but you do in Hacker, then you can use the terminal to unlock the display case instead.

How to use Grognak’s Axe

Grognak’s Axe is one of the top 5 best melee weapons in Fallout 4, making it to fourth place due to the hidden effect that lowers its AP cost. Moreover, it’s a straightforward weapon to get, with no quest steps to follow or factions to join first. However, you must have (or have a companion who has) an Advanced level in either Locksmith or Hacker to open the case.

Swinging what looks like an ancient battleaxe is a unique play-style choice in a post-apocalyptic game like Fallout 4. However, the combination of damage, status effects, and lower AP cost make it a good choice for melee builds.
