This guide explains how to complete the Cabin Fever side mission along with all the consequences of this quest in Avowed.
Cabin Fever is one of the earliest side missions that you can do once you land on Dawnshore. Moreover, this is one of the few side missions where you can choose how the quest ends due to it having multiple endings. However, not every ending gives the same reward, so players can easily miss out on some good loot.
In this guide, we have explained how to complete the Cabin Fever side mission and what choices you need to make for the best ending of this quest in Avowed.
Helping Dehengen in the Cabin Fever Mission in Avowed
To start this mission, you need to first meet up with Dehengen. Go straight from the Claviger’s Landing in Dawnshore, and you can see Dehengen standing in an open area with a quest marker on her head. Talk to her, and she informs you how her home is raided by Xaurips, and the militia is too scared to get rid of them due to the mysterious plague. Lastly, agree to help her with her problem, and she gives you her house key.
From here, follow the quest marker towards the Fractured Shore area. On the way, you encounter some angry Xaurips that you need to take out. Moreover, make sure to defeat the Xaurip Elder first, as they provide buffs to the other Xaurips. After defeating them, cross the bridge, and you can walk straight to Dehengen’s house. There is also a fast-travel beacon named “Dehengen’s Cottage” near the house.

Entering Dehengen’s House
You have a total of three ways to enter the house in case you didn’t get the key from Dehengen. These ways of entry are:
- You can enter through the front door using the key.
- Break the obstacles placed at the back of the house and enter through a small hole.
- You can break a destructible wall on the side of the house and enter through it.
Once inside, you have to fight with two more Xaurips. Defeat them and loot anything you can find inside the house. Interact with the mural on the wall of the centermost room, to which you have a small conversation with Kai.
Then you have to pick up Dehengen’s journal from the right side room, which gives you a small idea about one particular Xaurip being friendly with Dehengen. Outside, you can see a Xaurip leader not hostile to you; ignore him. Finally, you can travel back to Claviger’s Landing and talk with Dehengen.
Which Choice To Make With Dehengen in the Cabin Fever Mission in Avowed?
Lastly, there are three main choices you can make here depending on your previous action in the quest, with each having different consequences and rewards. These choices are:
- You kill the Xaurip leader before coming back, which does not give you any further choices, and Dehengen rewards you with 300 Copper Skeyt.
- You tell Dehengen to follow her heart and neglect her soul twin, the Xaurip leader. This ends up with both of them not interacting with each other anymore. You gain a small amount of XP as a reward for this choice.
- You advise Dehengen to give the Xaurip leader a chance and spend time with him. Moreover, this is the best outcome, as you are rewarded with the Vindictive band item. This accessory inflicts poison on critical hits. Finally, you also get the XP as a bonus, and the quest ends.
