Instructions and everything you need to know about Oakfather’s Retribution set which you can get from Cyrodiil in ESO.

The Elder Scrolls Online Oakfather’s Retribution Set

Oakfather’s Retribution

Oakfather’s Retribution Features and Set Bonuses in ESO:

  • Name: Oakfather’s Retribution
  • Type: Cyrodiil Set
  • Available Armor Weight: Light Armor, Jewelry, Weapons
  • Location: Cyrodiil
  • Requires DLC: No, part of the base game
  • Armor Set bonuses (Level 50 – CP 160):
    • (2 items): Adds 129 Weapon and Spell Damage
    • (3 items): Adds 129 Weapon and Spell Damage
    • (4 items): Adds 129 Weapon and Spell Damage
    • (5 items): Gain 449 Offensive Penetration against enemies for each Major Buff they have active. Gain 20 Weapon and Spell Damage against enemies for each Minor Buff they have active.

In ESO (The Elder Scrolls Online), Oakfather’s Retribution is a set with bonuses geared towards the DPS role. The first three bonuses add 129 Weapon and Spell Damage each time an additional piece of the set is equipped, from 2 to 4.

The major set bonus takes effect once you have a full 5 piece set on. This will grant you an increase in Offensive Penetration against enemies for each Major Buff they have active. Additionally, you gain another 20 Weapon and Spell Damage against enemies for each Minor Buff they have active.

Unfortunately, this set is not working properly on the PTS and we could not fully test it. Consequently, we could also not acquire any screenshots of the set in action. Currently, we could not get the damage to increase or the tooltips to show. Hopefully, this will be corrected in future PTS patches and we will be able to update the information here.

How to Use Oakfather’s Retribution Set in PvE and PvP?

While this set is not likely to change the current meta either within player vs environment (PvE), it could be a different story in player vs player (PvP) settings. Unfortunately, it’s hard to say one way or the other definitively without being able to fully test the kind of damage Oakfather’s Retribution can produce. However, we can make some educated guesses based on the tooltip.

PvE

Oakfather’s Retribution is not likely to make any sort of change to the PvE meta in ESO. Nor is it likely meant to, given that the set itself is collected via PvP. While the base three bonuses for wearing 2 to 4 pieces grant a nice overall boost to Weapon and Spell Damage, the final 5-piece bonus is not going to be as effective in PvE. While enemies and bosses can have Major and Minor Buffs, they typically don’t stack them. Therefore, this DPS set will not likely change the PvE gear meta.

PvP

Oakfather’s Retribution could potentially be a desired PvP set, due to the 2-4 piece bonuses, which are good due to how proc sets scale off of Weapon and Spell damage. As mentioned previously, we haven’t been able to fully test this set. However, in theory, it could be very good. In PvP, nearly any effective build will run 6-10 Major Buffs simultaneously. Furthermore, a tri-pot alone gives you three. Major protection from flare, armor buff, speed expedition, etc.

Consequently, if most of your enemies are running those types of builds, Oakfather’s Retribution could be very powerful damage set against them. Moreover, you can put it on jewelry/weapons.

How to Get Oakfather’s Retribution Set in ESO?

You can get Oakfather’s Retribution armor, weapons, and jewelry from Rewards of the Worthy coffers in Cyrodiil or Battlegrounds. Below are instructions on how to get all items from the ESO Oakfather’s Retribution set:

  • Have a character at level 10 or higher
  • Enter Cyrodiil or join a Battleground
  • Fight other alliances/players, take keeps/resources, etc.
  • Earn Alliance Points (AP)
  • For every 20,000 AP earn, you will automatically receive a Rewards of the Worthy coffer via mail

Several sets can drop in the Rewards of the Worthy coffers, so don’t expect it to be easy to collect all of the Oakfather’s Retribution pieces. However, Alliance Points can accumulate quickly when the battlefield is active. Additionally, you should be able to sell and trade Oakfather’s Retribution set pieces. Therefore, if you have a piece or two that won’t drop in the coffers, you can try finding them for sale at guild traders.

Finally, this set is part of the base game and is available for all ESO players.
