How To Beat Yuki Onna (Yokai) in Assassin’s Creed Shadows

Yuki Onna is one of the Yokai you fight in Assassin’s Creed Shadows. Here’s how you can locate and beat her.

In Assassin’s Creed Shadows, there is a group of targets based on mythical creatures from Japanese folklore—The Yokai. You can start this series of quests by talking to Mamushi at the Hills of Meaning in Yamashiro. There are a total of six Yokai that you must defeat, and Yuki Onna might be one of the most horrifying among them.

In Japanese folklore, Yuki Onna is a snow vampire who haunts snowy forests and drains the life energy of those she catches. In Assassin’s Creed Shadows, a Yuki Onna is allegedly haunting the mountains below Ibu Highlands, especially during winter. Many young men have gone missing, and travelers returning from the mountaintop seem drained of energy.

However, the Yuki Onna you are searching for is just a crazed murderer who lurks in the mountains. Here’s a guide to help you locate Yuki Onna and defeat her in Assassin’s Creed Shadows.

Location of the Yuki Onna in Assassin’s Creed Shadows

Firstly, you can only find Yuki Onna during the winter season in-game. She won’t appear at her location in any other season.

Head to Nomura Village, located on the eastern side of Lake Biwa. From there, follow the river east to the location shown in the image above. You’ll find Yuki Onna in the lake near Kawachi Kaza-ana Cave.

She won’t attack on sight but will retreat into her cave. Follow her inside to engage her in combat in a more open area.

How To Beat the Yuki Onna in Assassin’s Creed Shadows?

Yuki Onna is the most difficult Yokai to fight in Assassin’s Creed Shadows. She sits at level 38, which makes her a very formidable enemy. We do not recommend fighting her early game as she can simply one-tap you. The best way to tackle this fight is to team up with Naoe and assassinate her before the fight even begins. Yuki Onna has three health chunks, so one-shot assassination is possible with the right skills and gear. 

If you wish to fight her as Yasuke, it will be really difficult. Yuki Onna uses a pair of tanto and mostly does slash attacks. What makes this fight difficult is her erratic movement. The only attack you have to be careful of is a wind-up spin attack where her lower blade shines and she charges at you. She can also backspin to dodge and dash back at you to attack. Keep dodging her and defeat her with your attacks.
