Avowed is a highly acclaimed action RPG set to release on February 18, 2025, on PC and Xbox Series X/S. Like many RPGs, the game features many mechanics that can flesh out the combat to make it very enjoyable. One of these mechanics that the game provides is the ability to inflict stun on enemies.

This guide explains every detail that you need to know on how to stun enemies in Avowed.

Firstly, you have to know how and when stun accumulates. In Avowed, any source of physical damage accumulates stun on enemies. When fighting anything, you can see a second bar underneath their health bar. Any stun you accumulate is shown in that bar. Once the bar is full, the enemy gets inflicted with the stunned status effect, which immobilizes them for a while. This gives you ample time to either recuperate during the battle or dish out as much damage as possible.

Avowed allows players to use any weapons they want. However, not every weapon type is akin to one another. Similarly, the stun damage of weapons also varies for each type. Maces, hammers, and rifles deal a great quantity of stun damage to enemies while slashing weapons such as swords and daggers deal the least stun damage. However, you have to constantly keep on attacking the enemy, otherwise the stun bar starts to deteriorate.

All weapons can be upgraded at the workbench to increase the stun value. You can always check how much stun damage a weapon deals from its stats. Additionally, some weapons tend not to upgrade their stun values at all in certain tiers. This is mostly due to them being unsuitable for stunning enemies. However, Avowed offers players many choices in case they want to make use of the stun feature.

From the myriad of skills that you can unlock in Avowed, some are better at stunning than others. Some of these skills are:

  • Charge: This is one of the very first skills that you can unlock in the Fighter Class. You rush forward at enemies, dealing high physical and stun damage in the process.
  • Shield Bash: This is another skill for the Fighter class. Bash enemies while holding a shield that pushes them back and deals stun damage.
  • Staggering Shot: A fairly powerful Ranger Class ability that powers up your ranged weapon and also increases stun damage by a lot.
