Crèche Y’llek Location Guide in BG3
Crèche Y’llek is a Githyanki stronghold located inside the ruins of the Rosymorn Monastery. It serves as a sacred and military site where Githyanki warriors are trained and where their young, called Githyanki crechelings, are raised. It’s also a place of healing and spiritual guidance, overseen by a high-ranking Githyanki Inquisitor.
Lae’zel believes the crèche may offer a cure or answers regarding the mind-flayer tadpole infection. It’s also the place where she hopes to receive guidance from Vlaakith, the Githyanki lich-queen.
However, things at Crèche Y’llek are not as they seem. As you explore the area, you’ll uncover internal conflicts, dangerous secrets, and a personal crisis that could change Lae’zel’s life forever.
How to Find the Entrance to Crèche Y’llek in Baldur’s Gate 3 Guide
The best and easiest way to find the entrance to Crèche Y’llek is by finding the broken stairs that lead down into the basement. There is an entrance there guarded by Githyanki warriors. However, you can easily convince them to let you pass if Lae’zel is in the group. Otherwise, you can try to persuade them, or just straight up tell them you have the ‘weapon’ they are looking for.
Here is how to find the entrance to Crèche Y’llek in BG3:
- Take the Mountain Pass in the northwest corner of the Act 1 map (X:-127 Y:561)
- Head north on the Rosymorn Monastery Trail to find the Monastery.
- Explore the Monastery to find the stairs leading to the basement
- Get past the Githyanki guards
- Enter Crèche Y’llek
Crèche Y’llek Entrance through Rosymorn Monastery Stairs
You can find an entrance to Crèche Y’llek by jumping down some broken stairs at the Rosymorn Monastery. These stairs are located on the eastern side of the ruins. Below, you’ll find another set of stairs leading to the Crèche, which is filled with NPCs, valuable loot, merchants, and potential side quests.
Additionally, while you are at the Monastery and outside the Crèche don’t forget to solve the ceremonial weapon puzzles to get the Blood of Lathander. This is one of the best legendary weapons you can get in the game. Moreover, the fact that you can get it in Act 1 really makes it a must-have. Additionally, the radiant light that it puts off will also come in handy during Act 2.

There are several significant story events at Crèche Y’llek that you don’t want to miss, especially if you have Lae’zel. Crèche Y’llek Awakened Bonus with the Zaith’isk Chair
The Awakened permanent bonus will allow you to use any of your Illithid powers as a bonus action, which is a great boost if you are consuming extra tadpoles. Furthermore, it can be gained during your visit to Crèche Y’llek. But only if you try for it before you advance into the Inquisitor’s Chambers!
After you get inside the Crèche, head down the western hallway and go left to reach the Infirmary. In the back room, you will find the healer Ghustil Stornugoss in her office with the Zaith’isk Chair. Tell her of your infection with the tadpoles and she will direct you to use the chair.
Lae’zel will insist on using the chair first, but to earn the bonus, you must refuse and use it yourself. Once the device activates, you’ll need to pass three separate ability checks:
- DC 12 Intelligence Saving Throw
- DC 15 Wisdom Saving Throw
- DC 18 Charisma, Constitution, or Intelligence Saving Throw
Regardless of the outcome, the chair will break after the sequence. However, if you succeed, you’ll gain the permanent “Awakened” bonus, granting a powerful boost to your character.
All Unique Items at Crèche Y’llek in Baldur’s Gate 3
There are numerous unique items and gear pieces you can loot or buy at Crèche Y’llek. Furthermore, the trader here is called A’jak’nir Jeera, and you can find her by taking the first right passage from the entrance. This will lead into a cave area with a few Githyanki and supplies. A’jak’nir Jeera won’t be wild about your presence, but she’ll still be willing to sell to you. However, as always, be sure to buy whatever you want from her before advancing to the Inquisitor’s Chambers.

Finally, there are three Mind Flayer Parasite Specimens you can also find in Crèche Y’llek. All three of these are found in the same Infirmary as the Zaith’isk Chair. Two are on a table on one side of the room, and the third is on the other side. Be careful to sneak and steal when Ghustil Stornugoss is not looking.
