Discover the new ESO gear sets arriving in the Elder Scrolls Online (ESO) next update, Gold Road Chapter Update 42, in June 2024.
Gold Road Update 42 Elder Scrolls Online (ESO) & New Gear Sets
The ESO Gold Road chapter features a 30-hour story, West Weald New Zone, and Lucent Citadel 12-Player Trial. However, the most significant new feature is a new Scribing mechanic that allows players to customize special skills from existing skill lines, known as Grimoires, empowering them to shape their builds and playstyle like never before. Below are all the new gear sets and Mthics items in the Elder Scrolls Online Gold Road Chapter, launching on PC on June 3rd and Xbox and PlayStation on June 18th. Below, we show all the New Gear Sets for ESO Gold Road Chapter Update 42.
Crafting Armor Sets
Below are the three crafting gear sets released with the Gold Road Chapter:
- Highland Sentinel
- Tharriker’s Strike
- Threads of War
Highland Sentinel
Highland Sentinel Set gives three lines of critical chance and a proc condition in the Elder Scrolls Online (ESO):
- 2 items: Adds 657 Critical Chance
- 3 items: Adds 657 Critical Chance
- 4 items: Adds 657 Critical Chance
- 5 items: While in combat, each second you stand still grants you a stack of Sentinel’s Eye every 1 second, up to 10 stacks. Each stack increases your Critical Chance by 468. Each second you move removes half of your stacks of Sentinel’s Eye, rounded up. Exiting combat removes all stacks of Sentinel’s Eye. Using charge and teleport abilities do not remove stacks of Sentinel’s Eye.
The set significantly increases the critical chance. However, the “standstill” requirement might be impossible in some content. Many dungeons have extremely mobile mechanics. This will be used in parsing setups.
Tharriker’s Strike
Tharriker’s Strike Set gives three lines of weapon and spell damage and a proc condition in the Elder Scrolls Online (ESO):
- 2 items: Adds 129 Weapon and Spell Damage
- 3 items: Adds 129 Weapon and Spell Damage
- 4 items: Adds 129 Weapon and Spell Damage
- 5 items: Dealing damage with a fully-charged Heavy Attack grants you Major Berserk for 4 seconds, increasing your damage done by 10%. This effect can occur once every 1 second.
Major Berserk is easily obtainable from skills and other sets; this five-piece bonus will not be used in most situations.
Threads of War
Threads of War Set gives two lines of max stamina, spell and weapon damage, and a proc condition in the Elder Scrolls Online (ESO):
- 2 items: Adds 1096 Max Stamina
- 3 items: Adds 129 Weapon and Spell Damage
- 4 items: Adds 1096 Max Magicka
- 5 items: Your Light and fully-charged Heavy Attacks gain 100% Status Effect Chance. The Status Effect is based on the damage type of your weapon.
This set seem weak compared to a similar bonus you can achieve with one of the new Gold Road chapter overland sets, Symmetry of the Weald. The second one gives twice as much of a chance to gain status effect chance, and it’s easier to trigger than its craftable version.
Overland Armor Sets
Below are all the gear sets in the overland zones released with the Gold Road Chapter:
- Symmetry of the Weald
- Macabre Vintage
- Ayleid Rufuge
Light Armor: Symmetry of the Weald
Symmetry of the Weald Set gives three lines of spell and weapon damage, and a proc condition in the Elder Scrolls Online (ESO):
- 2 items: Adds 129 Weapon and Spell Damage
- 3 items: Adds 129 Weapon and Spell Damage
- 4 items: Adds 129 Weapon and Spell Damage
- 5 items: Adds 200% Status Effect Chance while your Health is above 50%. Adds 10% Healing Done while your Health is 50% or less.
This set is a fantastic early game and an easy option to get from exploring the zone or guild trades. The fifth set bonus corresponds well with one of the strongest status effects in game right now Hemorrhaging. It is a status effect in ESO that causes the target to bleed and reduces their max health. An extra chance to trigger any status effect is always great for builds that can take full advantage of it. This light armor set might be used in ESO PvE mode.
Medium Armor: Macabre Vintage
Macabre Vintage Set gives four lines of spell and weapon damage, and a proc condition in the Elder Scrolls Online (ESO):
- 2 items: Adds 129 Weapon and Spell Damage
- 3 items: Adds 129 Weapon and Spell Damage
- 4 items: Adds 129 Weapon and Spell Damage
- 5 items: Adds 150 Weapon and Spell Damage
- 5 items: When you kill a monster they burst with blood magic, dealing 50% of their Max Health to enemies within 6 meters as Bleed Damage, up to 24096 Bleed Damage. This damage cannot critically strike. This effect can occur once every 0.5 seconds.
Bleed might see their comeback with the new Scribing mechanic. The ability to create exciting spell combinations may make this set extremely powerful for this specific time of builds.
Heavy Armor: Ayleid Refuge
Ayleid Rufuge Set gives two lines of max health, a line of max stamina, and a proc condition in the Elder Scrolls Online (ESO):
- 2 items: Adds 1096 Max Stamina
- 3 items: Adds 1206 Max Health
- 4 items: Adds 1206 Max Health
- 5 items: Blocking an attack reduces your Damage Taken by 11% for 3 seconds.
This new heavy armor set option is extremely easy to get and will be great for new tanks looking for a way to increase their survivability and boost it in PvP areas. An extra 11% damage reduction that can be added on top of any named buff is a valuable option.
Lucent Citadel Trial Armor Sets
All new trial sets from 12-player PvE activity Lucient Citadel will become one of the most powerful options in the coming months. Both support Xoryn’s Masterpiece, and Lucent Echoes sets will find their use in PvE and PvP areas. Especially strong is Mora Scribe’s Thesis, a new DPS light option for players looking to boost their critical chance and damage done.
Below are all the gear sets in the overland zones released with the Gold Road Chapter:
- Mora Scribe’s Thesis
- Slivers of the Null Arca
- Xoryn’s Masterpiece
- Lucent Echoes
Light Armor: Mora Scribe’s Thesis
- 2 items: Adds 657 Critical Chance
- 3 items: Gain Minor Slayer at all times, increasing your damage done to Dungeon, Trial, and Arena Monsters by 5%.
- 4 items: Adds 1096 Max Magicka
- 5 items(Perfected only): Adds 657 Critical Chance
- 5 items: Increase your Critical Chance by 128 for every Major Buff active on you, up to 1536 Critical Chance. Increase your Critical Damage done by 1% for every Minor Buff active on you, up to 12% Critical Damage done.
Medium Armor: Slivers of the Null Arca
- 2 items: Adds 657 Critical Chance
- 3 items: Gain Minor Slayer at all times, increasing your damage done to Dungeon, Trial, and Arena Monsters by 5%.
- 4 items: Adds 657 Critical Chance
- 5 items(Perfected only): Adds 129 Weapon and Spell Damage
- 5 items: Dealing Critical Damage gives you a stack of Sliver for 10 seconds. You can only gain one stack of Sliver every 0.5 seconds. When you gain your third stack, the stacks are consumed and the crystals launch at the last enemy you damaged, dealing 3063 Physical Damage. This damage scales off your Weapon or Spell Damage. Once you launch the crystals, you cannot gain Sliver for 5 seconds.
Light Armor: Xoryn’s Masterpiece
- 2 items: Adds 1096 Max Magicka
- 3 items: Gain Minor Aegis at all times, reducing your damage taken from Dungeon, Trial, and Arena Monsters by 5%.
- 4 items: Adds 129 Magicka Recovery
- 5 items(Perfected only): Adds 1096 Max Magicka
- 5 items: Increases your Max Magicka and Max Stamina by 1667 for you and up to 11 other group members within 28 meters of you. This bonus persists through death.
Heavy Armor: Lucent Echoes
- 2 items: Adds 4% Healing Taken
- 3 items: Gain Minor Aegis at all times, reducing your damage taken from Dungeon, Trial, and Arena Monsters by 5%.
- 4 items: Adds 1206 Max Health
- 5 items(Perfected only): Adds 1206 Max Health
- 5 items: While you have more than 50% Health, increase the Critical Damage and Healing of your group members by 11%. Group members wearing Lucent Echoes cannot benefit from this effect. While you have 50% or less Health, reduce your Damage Taken from monsters by 20%.
Mythic Sets
Below are all the gear sets in the overland zones released with the Gold Road Chapter:
- Rourken Steamguards
- The Shadow Queen’s Cowl
- The Saint and the Seducer
Heavy Hands: Rourken Steamguards
- Activating Block while in combat grants you Steam Guardian for 0.5 seconds, reducing your damage taken by 99%. This effect can occur once every 10 seconds.
Blocking an attack while Steam Guardian is active reduces its cooldown by 5 seconds.
Almost 100% damage reduction is a powerful option for any player looking for a defensive set, which is only a one-piece item. The cooldown is something worth considering, but if you can reliably trigger the proc effect, you have a solid defensive option in both pvp and pve modes.
Light Head: The Shadow Queen’s Cowl
- While Crouched, you can see Witnesses and Guards through walls.
Successfully pickpocketing a Witness or Guard applies Distracted to them for 10 seconds, stunning your target. Decreases your detection radius in Stealth by 30 meters against Distracted targets.
The Shadow Queen’s Cowl is an interesting set for players who like sneaking and maybe a little roleplaying while questing. It won’t become a meta set for any modes, but playing around in ESO with this gear may be fun.
Necklace: The Saint and the Seducer
- While in combat, you gain one of five random major buffs which changes every 10 seconds. Enemies within 12 meters of you gain one of five random minor debuffs depending on which buff you have. The available buffs and debuffs include:
- Major Berserk and Minor Maim
- Major Resolve and Minor Breach
- Major Force and Minor Brittle
- Major Evasion and Minor Vulnerability
- Major Courage and Minor Cowardice
This mythic is like a one-item Daedrick trickery set commonly used for a long time in ESO PvP. The Saint and the Seducer apply one bonus at random, significantly boosting the defenses of the wearer.
