The highly acclaimed construction and management simulator Factorio can be further enhanced by using some excellent mods.
Factorio, developed by Wube Software, is a construction and management simulation game. The PC-exclusive game allows players to be creative and use imagination to construct buildings and industries around their bases. It is quite addictive already, but you can elevate the experience further by using various mods. Luckily, there are hundreds of different mods available for Factorio on the internet.

10) Helmod
Helmod can be used to make Factorio more easily accessible to newbies and even veterans. Over the course of the gameplay, managing a huge base with a number of buildings can become a difficult task. The mod assists players with tracking metrics such as required ingredients, products, machines, modules, and beacons for better planning. It also calculates the power production/consumption of the base, which helps to run the machinery in the base smoothly.
9) Bottleneck
The Bottleneck mod places an indicator light on various buildings, such as machines, furnaces, mining drills, pump jacks, and chemical plants. You can easily find and sort out the starving machinery on your base with this mod. The three types of lights notify the players about the production status of the buildings.
Try to keep every light green, which denotes smooth production output, whereas yellow and red indicate there is something wrong with the production and you need to check the input and output. You can also customize the light colors as you wish.
8) Squeak Through
If you want to go on the opposite side of a building, you need to walk around the map to get there, which is quite frustrating. This is where the Squeak Through mod comes in to save the day. It allows you to walk between the sides of the building, technically squeezing through the building.
This allows you to get past structures such as solar panels, pipes, steam engines, mining drills, chests, and so on. With the Squeak Through mod, your path will no longer be blocked by obstacles and you will not have to walk around them.
7) Resource Spawner Overhaul
The Resource Spawner Overhaul mod simply overrides the resource spawning system of the game. It makes the resource-spawning mechanism more region-specific. If you want to get out of your comfort zone and explore the entire map of Factorio, then this mod is highly recommended. As you explore further from the starting location, you will find better resource-rich regions. This mod may not work properly if you are using another resource-modifying mod.
6) Warptorio2
Have you ever thought about how Factorio would look if it belonged to the action genre? Then, Warptorio2 will provide you with an answer as it gives you the feel of a tower defense game. It teleports you to a small and restricted platform on an unknown planet filled with various deadlier threats and turns Factorio into a combat-oriented action game. You need to formulate a strategy to survive the threats of the various enemies that constantly attack your base.
The mod also has an expansion, Warptorio2 Expansion, that includes some new elements such as planet-based missions, more planets, a planet interface, and a robotic companion.
5) Combat Mechanics Overhaul
The Combat Mechanics Overhaul mod changes or enhances several combat mechanics of the game. Though Factorio is not a combat-based action game, you can try this mod if you want to play the game from a new perspective. It is a modification of the Walls block spitters mod, with the expansion of several functionalities.
4) Space Exploration
Space Exploration is a perfect mod for space lovers, as the mod brings several unique space-based experiences and challenges. It introduces various new features such as launching a satellite rocket into space, building a research space station, exploring new planets, gathering unique resources, and analyzing the complexities of deep space science.
The mod adds so much content to the vanilla game that you will need an average of 500 hours to explore and complete the challenge. Space Exploration may not be compatible with other mods, so it is recommended that you install it as a standalone mod.
3) Alien Biomes
Want to try out Factorio in biomes apart from the regular one? Then Alien Biomes is the mod for you. It adds a collection of new biomes such as Snow, Volcanic, Crater, and various colors of Dirt, Sand, and Grass. It also adds new decorative variants to make your base more appealing.
Since this mod also brings shallow water to coastlines, you can catch some fish. You can even adjust the temperature and moisture level with the planet controls option.
2) Jetpack
Who doesn’t want the enjoyment of traveling the world of Factorio with a Jetpack? Yes, the Jetpack mod allows players to build Jetpack equipment and fly at high speed over your base. With an adequate amount of rocket fuel or nuclear fuel, you can fly over buildings and water for as long as you want. The speed of the Jetpack can be increased by adding multiple equipment to the same armor, and you can also pick from four tiers of a Jetpack with various speeds.
