The Alpha Doshaguma is among the first monsters you encounter in Monster Hunter Wilds. You will get a quest to hunt the monster in the first chapter of the game. Unlike the other standard Doshaguma you run into out in the world, the Alpha Doshaguma is much larger and more aggressive. Basically, think of it as an angrier and more powerful version of the Doshaguma that just wants to tear you apart on sight.

A giant monster, the Alpha Doshaguma, roams around in the Windward Plains. The fanged beast is highly territorial, and you can usually spot it along with a couple of standard Doshaguma members. The worst thing you can do is underestimate the smaller beasts that accompany the Alpha Doshaguma, as these tend to be equally aggressive. So you’ll need to clear them out before you have a chance of going 1v1 against the leader of the pack.
Keep in mind that the monster is capable of unleashing a mini earthquake that will deal the greatest damage. Beyond that, the beast also uses slashes, bites, and claws to knock you down. After getting hit by just a few of these, you’ll become vulnerable to its subsequent attacks, so you have to keep moving and dodging out of the way.
How To Unlock Alpha Doshaguma in Monster Hunter Wilds
You will have to hunt Alpha Doshaguma as part of a Chapter 1 assignment, the Hunter’s Pride quest. Before you can get to this monster, you would have to survive a fight with Balahara. So, make sure to restock your potions and gear before heading into the Alpha Doshaguma hunt.

The primary weak points of the Alpha Doshaguma are its belly and face. However, you also need to target its Tall Hair and Forelegs because both of these are breakable. After breaking its Forelegs, this region also becomes a major weak point that you can target for bonus damage. Range hunters can easily focus their offensive on the beast’s face, which can help drain much of its health quickly.

Although you can use any weapon in the fight, the best ones for this fight are those that can easily break the monster’s body parts. That’s because the beast’s forelegs and Tall Hair can both be broken to cause high damage. So, hammers are a great option in this hunt. You can also opt for the Great Sword or Long Sword to slash away at the monster’s health pool. If any of your weapons have ice or fire damage to them, make sure to prioritize that during this encounter.

How To Beat Alpha Doshaguma in MH Wilds
Although many of its attacks are similar to the smaller Doshaguma counterparts, one thing to remember is that this monster is far more aggressive. So, it can unleash fiercely powerful attacks almost one after the other during the fight. The beast will often stand upright on its hind legs and then slam on the ground in front of it. This can create a tremor that you simply don’t want to get caught in. Use your dodge rolls to swiftly get out of the way.
If at any time during the fight you come across another large monster, the Rey Dau, take advantage of the situation by luring the Alpha Doshaguma toward it. As soon as they come near each other, a turf war will ensue between them. Get out of the way and let the two beasts battle it out. The Rey Dau may cause significant damage to the beast you’re after, cutting down your work for you.
While they fight, you can heal yourself and place traps strategically. When the fight resumes, use focus mode to target any wounds that the monster has suffered from. If you’re unable to master dodging its attack, use a Seikret during the battle. It will allow you to quickly create some distance between the monster and you, especially when you’re in urgent need of healing.

Tips To Defeat Alpha Doshaguma
The following are some tips that you can follow to easily defeat Alpha Doshaguma in Monster Hunter Wilds:
- Stock up on herbs that you see in the area. If you’ve managed your settings to automatic crafting, the herbs will become health potions automatically. This should ensure you have a steady stream of potions available throughout the battle.
- Make sure you are comfortable controlling your Seikret in battle. This will help you to lure the monster into traps that you have laid for it.
- Shock traps can slow down the monster enough for you to get an opening. Use these traps when you’re trying to gain the upper hand.
- While your Palico has the beast’s attention, place barrel bombs on the battleground. You can do heavy damage by luring the Alpha Doshaguma into one of these.
