Learn about all MHWilds’ monsters and their variants, both new and returning, that you will be going up against.
Monster Hunter Wilds Monsters guide features a huge roster of monsters for you to investigate and hunt. While some of these monsters are returning icons from past titles, many of them are new, debuting in the MH series with the latest title.
Furthermore, our list only includes Large Monsters, i.e., the ones that you specifically hunt for parts. The game does feature other creatures, known as Small Monsters and Endemic Life. However, these lifeforms don’t have hunting quests associated with them. The Small Monsters are essentially additional lifeforms that inhabit the same ecosystem as other Large Monsters.

In Monster Hunter Wilds, Capcom has shifted focus from the Elder Dragons and over to other Monster Classes. While there is a possibility that Elders might show up in the upcoming title, Capcom has not revealed anything official yet.
Even the game’s flagship monster, i.e., Arkveld, is of a yet unknown species. Thankfully, the game does have plenty of returning creatures from the past titles, alongside new additions to existing classes. Here’s a list of all the monsters in Monster Hunter Wilds:

In Monster Hunter games, your primary objective is to hunt these monsters to craft new and better gear. As you progress through the main story and Hunter Rank, you will be able to face more powerful and aggressive variants of these monsters. Monsters are also the primary source of weapon and armor-crafting resources in Monster Hunter Wilds. If you want to know more about the new monsters in MH Wilds, check out our guide detailing the debutants.
Similarly to past games in the series, every monster in MH Wilds has its own ecology and abilities. Monsters also have their own set of strengths and weaknesses. To know about a monster’s weaknesses and elemental affinities, you will need to use the Hunter’s Notes feature. As you investigate monsters in the game’s main story and optional quests, new entries will get added to the Hunter’s Notes.
Do note that this is an in-progress list, and we will update it as we discover more information on the new and returning monsters Capcom has added to Monster Hunter Wilds. Meanwhile, you can check out the following Monster Hunter articles:
