Find out how you can set up Pop-up Camps in Monster Hunter Wilds as we explore all details including its uses and other related mechanics.

Other than your base camp, you get access to a brand-new feature called the Pop-up Camp in Monster Hunter Wilds. These are essentially tents that you set up in specific areas and are very similar to the literal meaning of “camping” as well. Unlike Monster Hunter World, where you had to focus on resources to set up a new camp, Pop-up Camps do not have any such prerequisites.
You will, however, have to find the right spots to set up your Pop-up Camp. Moreover, these are not without risks and can be destroyed by large monsters as well. In this article, we will explain how you can set up Pop-up Camps in Monster Hunter Wilds. We will also explore all other details regarding this feature that you need to know.
Note: The contents of this article are based on the official blog and the open beta tests. If necessary, we will update this with more information once the full game is released.
Steps To Set Up Pop-Up Camp in Monster Hunter Wilds
Setting up a Pop-up Camp in Monster Hunter Wilds entails the following steps:
- Finding a suitable spot to set up your Pop-up Camp.
- Build the Pop-up Camp.
Where Can You Build Pop-up Camps in Monster Hunter Wilds?

There are specific locations where you can build a Pop-up Camp in every region or locale of Monster Hunter Wilds. Unfortunately, scoutflies do not mark these for you unless you come across one while exploring. Once you are near such a spot, you will notice a green cylindrical area marked on the ground, with neon-green butterflies surrounding it.
These butterflies are your primary visual cue to find Pop-up Camp locations in Monster Hunter Wilds. Even if your scoutflies do not lock onto the camp location, you can easily identify these butterflies and follow them to locate your Pop-up Camp.
How To Build Pop-Up Camp in Monster Hunter Wilds
Once you have found the location, follow these steps to build a Pop-up Camp in Monster Hunter Wilds:
- Use your Item Bar to locate the Camping Kit.
- Press the respective button to build the camp. (E on PC, Square on PS, X on Xbox.)
- A small animation will ensue, which will then complete the camp.
That said, there are certain times when you will not be able to build a Pop-up Camp.

When Can You Not Build a Pop-up Camp in Monster Hunter Wilds?
Even if you are at the right location, you will be unable to build a Pop-up Camp in Monster Hunter Wilds under these scenarios:
- When you are engaged with a Large Monster.
- If there is an existing Pop-up Camp in the same location that has been destroyed.
- When you have built the maximum number of Pop-up Camps possible for that locale.
If you are engaged with a large monster, either defeat it or lose its aggro to build the camp. In case you already have an existing camp in the same location that has been destroyed, you will need to repair it first.
How To Repair Pop-up Camps in Monster Hunter Wilds

Pop-up Camps are automatically repaired by the Pop-up Camp Purrofessional, but it takes some time. When a Pop-up Camp is destroyed, you get a notification on your screen informing you of the same. If you do not take any action, the Purrofessional will automatically repair it after a while.
However, if you want to speed up this process, you must talk to the Pop-up Camp Purrofessional, whom you can find beside your destroyed camp. Note that speeding up the repairing process will cost you some Guild Points.
Why Are Pop-up Camps Destroyed?
Large monsters sometimes destroy Pop-up Camps in Monster Hunter Wilds. This can happen either during your combat or during the monster’s natural patrols. Monsters can intentionally destroy your camps or could also cause collateral damage. On rare occasions, Turf Wars between monsters near your Pop-up Camp might also destroy them.
How To Remove Pop-up Camps in Monster Hunter Wilds
To remove a Pop-up Camp in Monster Hunter Wilds, you will need to talk to the Pop-up Camp Purrofessional. This will return the camp’s location to its former state. You can also remove a destroyed Pop-up Camp, although this places some restrictions on you.
When you remove a destroyed Pop-up Camp, you will not be able to build a Pop-up Camp in the same area for a certain duration. Currently, we do not know how much time needs to pass before being able to build a camp again. We will update this section with more information once the full game releases.
