Jin Dahaad is at the top of the Iceshard Cliffs’ food chain. No other monster in the region can match up to its sheer strength and brutality. It has ice plates across its body that can block out many of your attacks and prevent you from truly hurting the beast. Add to that an instant kill attack, and you know that facing the monster is no mean feat. Countering its attacks and taking time to prepare for the battle before it begins is crucial when trying to beat Jin Dahaad.

Jin Dahaad is weak to Fire damage, so make sure to use Fire elemental attacks and pick weaponry that has fire damage associated with them. Your second elemental option can be Thunder, but know that it won’t inflict as much damage as fire attacks will. Apart from that, ailment effectiveness is minimal for all except for Exhaust and Blastblight. So, choose these options if you want to maximize the damage on Jin Dahaad.

How To Beat Jin Dahaad in MH Wilds

The first thing to understand is that the fight will take place across different locations. Every time the battle restarts in a new area, you have the opportunity to deal significant damage to Jin Dahaad by dropping ice boulders on its head. To do so, use the claw and grab the boulders overhead. From time to time, Jin Dahaad in Monster Hunter Wilds will also climb atop nearby ruins. Evade its attack when this happens, and wait until a prompt appears to destroy the ruins. Doing so will cause the beast to fall down and take major damage.

Watch out for its icy elemental attacks, many of which can immobilize you for a certain period. While stuck, the ice will cover you and inflict even more damage. However, undoubtedly, the most devastating attack that the monster unleashes is its ultimate. In this attack (which occurs during the third phase of the fight), you can pull down ice mounds on the ground before the leviathan launches the terrifying explosion ultimate attack. If you are caught in these explosions, you will always faint. The only way to avoid fainting when Jin Dahaad attacks with its ultimate power is to hide behind these ice boulders.

Since the cold and ice are your primary concerns during the fight, make sure to consume hot drinks or Heatmantle Bugs to prevent some of the damage. Apart from targeting its Head with your attacks, also try to destroy its ice plates. Focus on any wounds that appear on the beast’s body, which will help you to get to the ice plates and break them.

Tips To Defeat Jin Dahaad

The following tips will help you take down Jin Dahaad quickly and without too much of a challenge:

  • Equip armor that provides extensive protection against ice attacks since Jin Dahaad relies exclusively on this specific elemental attack.
  • After every phase of the fight, when Jin Dahaad moves to a different area, take some time to have a meal that fortifies your defenses against both physical and ice attacks.
  • Lure Hirabami groups to attack Jin Dahaad. While the turf war happens, consume healing potions and take a breather. The Hirabami can take out a chunk of its health as you retreat to a safe distance.
  • Throw torch pods at the monster using your slinger. These inflict fire damage and can be an easy way to cause some decent pain to the monster.
  • Since the fight mostly happens in close quarters, dodging the monster’s attacks can be difficult. This is why you can use a Seikret to avoid Jin Dahaad’s attacks.
