Discover the 5 best characters in Tekken 8 based on their design, gameplay experience, and animations with our list.

Tekken 8 has been available for over a year now and features a diverse range of characters that cater to various playstyles. Additionally, the game has redesigned and remodeled many of its legacy characters while introducing some newcomers to the franchise. As Tekken 8 features some of the best and most well-designed characters we have ever seen in the series, we will be ranking 5 of the best ones in this list.
1. Reina

Reina is a newcomer to Tekken 8 and another addition to the Mishima character archetype. Her animations are beautifully animated, and she boasts some iconic Mishima techniques, such as the Electric and Hellsweep. Nevertheless, she is a difficult character to play, requiring a lot of practice and dedication to make the most of her moveset.
Her playstyle revolves around fast attacks to keep the opponent in check and constantly pressuring them to secure victory. Additionally, her combos are damaging and can take the opponent to the wall quite easily.
2. Heihachi Mishima

While Heihachi Mishima was considered dead after Tekken 7, he made his return in Tekken 8 as a DLC character. For this return, the developers redesigned him completely. Before he used to be a character that revolved around poking, now they toned down his poking utility and made him rely on bigger hits to open up the opponent.
However, the highlight of this character is the Warrior Instinct mechanic. After Heihachi has activated Heat three times in a match, he can transform using the Warrior Instinct. In this state, his attacks are enhanced, and he becomes something close to a boss character for one round.
3. Kazuya Mishima

In Tekken 8, Kazuya Mishima got his Devil transformation incorporated into his Heat state. While in Heat, Kazuya can augment existing abilities with the Devil’s power, use new attacks, and increase his damage and mix-up potential. Additionally, his new combos look incredible and are very satisfying to execute. These changes are well-deserved, considering that the Tekken 7 Kazuya was widely agreed upon to be very underwhelming.
4. Clive Rosfield

Final Fantasy XVI’s Clive Rosfield is the first guest character in Tekken 8. As such, the developers took great care in animating Clive and did an amazing job. Not only is his moveset completely faithful to Final Fantasy XIV, but his combos and attacks are very satisfying to learn and perform. He is also a strong character to boot. Additionally, they included a lot of references to Final Fantasy, such as incorporating Ifrit in his Rage Art or playing the Victory Fanfare theme after Clive ends a match with his Rage Art.
Also, Clive is the most successful guest character in the Tekken series yet, surpassing the likes of Noctis and Geese by a large margin.
5. Jin Kazama

The poster boy of the Tekken series since Tekken 3, Jin Kazama, went through a massive revamp, not unlike Tekken 4. However, this time, the developers wanted him to use more of his Devil powers in his moveset, thus changing his identity quite a lot. While many loyalist Jin players were unhappy, it cannot be denied that the new animations are exceptional and fun to watch.
In addition, they made Jin accessible to new players, which boosted his popularity and play rate.
