Here we have curated a list of the five best Dark Souls 3 bosses.

Dark Souls 3 features some of the best boss fights out of all the FromSoftware games. Especially after the launch of both of its DLCs, DS3 features the strongest catalog of boss fights. The final DLC of this game is supposed to end the trilogy, and its bosses definitely deliver in that respect. Dark Souls 3 often feels like a boss rush game, too.

There’s not enough exploration like in FromSoftware’s other titles. But the game likes to throw back-to-back amazing boss battles. Here is our ranking of some of the best boss fights in Dark Souls 3.

5) Twin Princes

The Twin Princes is the last Lord of Cinder fight in the base game. It is a two-phase fight that starts against Lorian, and then Lothric joins in at the start of the second phase. The gameplay design of the second phase will make you fall in love with this boss fight.

Lothric acts as support for Lorian and amplifies his attacks with magic. The health bars for the Twin Princes are separate, but you’ll need to kill Lothric in order to end the fight. Otherwise, Lothric will keep reviving Lorian. Lastly, the lore and music are so good, which is expected from great FromSoftware boss battles.

4) Demon Prince

The Demon Prince boss fight actually starts as a duo fight, with players fighting two separate demons at once. It does not feel overwhelming to take on two bosses at once due to the creative design of this fight. When one demon becomes aggressive, the other automatically enters a cooldown state and attacks from afar.

This makes the fight fair and does not turn it into a 2v1. The Demon Prince appears when you have beaten both of the starting demons. Another amazing thing about this fight is that the type of Demon Prince that appears can change. It depends on which of the two starting demons you killed at the end.

3) Sister Friede

Sister Friede is the main boss fight of the Ashes of Ariandel DLC in Dark Souls 3. She makes for an amazing duel in the game. Her overall fight consists of three phases, and that translates to three full health bars. In her second phase, Father Ariandel also joins the fight, which turns up the difficulty level a notch.

But at no point does this duo’s fight feel unfair. It is designed so well that most of the time Ariandal remains aggressive, with Friede providing backup support. Every new phase brings out something new in Friede’s moveset, too. It is not like she gains back her health; she also pulls out new attacks, which keep things fresh.

2) Darkeater Midir

Midir is a dragon boss fight, which is something the studio is not famous for executing well. However, FromSoftware managed to top everyone’s expectations with the Darkeater Midir fight from The Ringed City DLC. It is not only an amazing boss fight in FromSoftware’s catalog but an amazing one overall.

The size difference makes Midir’s attacks look menacing. But all of his moveset can be dodged easily with enough practice. Oh, and the camera supposedly does not pose a problem in this fight, like the studio’s other giant fights. It was clever to make Midir’s face the main hitbox, which also solved the camera problem. Lastly, the lore and the music of this fight are also top-tier.

1) Slave Knight Gael

This fight is a contender for the best final boss fight, and rightfully so. Gael is supposed to be the final fight for the entire Dark Souls trilogy, and he had to be good. In terms of gameplay, this boss has an amazing moveset that evolves over the course of three phases. But what makes Gael so much better is the lore and narrative that follow him.

It is simply beautiful how this fight connects to the story and ends the franchise in such a good manner. The music is also top-tier, so much so that it will become a part of your playlist after you beat the boss. Gael is not an artificially difficult fight either. Every single move of this boss is perfectly balanced and can be dodged if the timing is right. Overall, Gael is just an amazing farewell to a renowned franchise.
