NetherRealm Studios launched the Mortal Kombat 1: Khaos Reigns DLC pack on Tuesday, September 24, 2024, and gave a free content update alongside. The developer has reintroduced Animality, a fan-favorite finishing move from the franchise that made its debut on Mortal Kombat 3. All players can access the feature regardless of whether they purchase the expansion.

Animality is a finishing move similar to Fatality. It allows characters to transform into their spirit animals and destroy defeated opponents. Every fighter has their own Animality. There are a total of 32 Animalities in MK1 at the moment. In this article, we will take a look at the best Animalities in the game.

Note: The ranking is subjective.

1) Johnny Cage – Open the Beaches

Johnny Cage’s Open the Beaches Animality is so far considered the best by most fans. We all know that Johnny Cage’s fatalities are movie-related. So, his Animality, which references Jaws, is designed to be performed in a movie set.

It starts with Johnny Cage wearing a shark outfit, and a clapboard with “Heavy Bite: Take 1” signals go. The screen fills with water, and both Johnny Cage enters the ocean alongside the opponent. The latter then floats on the surface of the ocean, and Johnny Cage, as the shark, circles him. He grabs the prey with a heavy bite and tears them in half.

2) Takeda – Ten-Tickles

Another brilliant Animality sequence is Takeda’s Ten-Tickles Animality. It starts with Takeda summoning a water domain and transforming into a huge octopus. One of the tentacles grabs the opponent and takes them inside the water. Then, Takeda tears the opponent into two halves using another tentacle and consumes the upper portion.

This Animality is a masterpiece since it takes place in two domains, just like the Johnny Cage one.

3) Li Mei – UnBearable

Li Mei’s UnBearable Animality is equally cute and terrifying. Li Mei transforms into a panda and rolls towards her opponent. She then grabs their arm and tears it off with a bite. The sequence ends as she crushes her opponent’s head by sitting on it, savoring the dismembered limb. A rather grotesque blend of humor and horror!

4) Noob Saibot – See You Later…

Noob Saibot’s See You Later… Animality sparks nostalgia among fans as it takes inspiration from Noob Saibot’s Fatality in Mortal Kombat 9. The remake closely mirrors the original, but, this time, two alligators replace the two Noob Saibots.

The Animality starts with Noob Saibot transforming into a deadly alligator, and a clone alligator emerges behind the opponent. The alligators grab a leg each and tear the opponent apart. It almost looks same as Kenshi’s Animality, which features wolves instead.

5) Omni-Man – Hail Mary

Lastly, we have Omni-Man’s Hail Mary Animality. As the name suggests, it involves Hail Mary, a gigantic kaiju creature that Omni-Man once fought in the series.

The idea of bringing back Hail Mary in Omni-Man’s Animality was a masterstroke, and fans have responded positively to it. Most other Animalities feature real-world animals, so this one stands out. Omni-Man transforms into Hail Mary and crushes the opponent with his hand. He then devours them brutally.
